Thank you tony, I always knew you were a good guy!

You do realize I'd cut the bed off whilst I had it in my possession.
My nice guy persona is all done with smoke & mirrors.

That would be being a nice guy. You are simply assisting Geoff on what should be done anyway!

Well at least build a new bed that looks like the one posted earlier on that tan 1st gen.

Messing around in the garage yesterday and mocked up one of the tires, and looks like ill need at least a 1" spacer so they wont contact the caliper. The rear calipers don't have much meat to grind off. It would be sweet if i can keep it close to this height out back.

Those tires look great on there G.

They do indeed! I am excited to see the Hoff tear it up in a real rig finally!!

I cant wait to wheel a real truck! My dad predicted a rollover and crushed cab the 2nd run, dick. I'm getting ancy to start ripping into this thing. Just ordered the ford steering box and need to research what else i need in regards to steering shafts, hoses, pitman arms and junk like that to make it work. I scored a rear sump pan for 40 bucks that's in the mail now and once i get the oil pickup tube for it i may just swap the pan in one weekend and yank the IFS diff out of it to save some time.

"Yank the ifs diff out?"

You aren't planning to disassemble the IFS are you? Just plasma the whole thing right off the frame... takes about 10 minutes.

Its mainly to get some of the "prep" work done, and save some time with putting the new oil pan/pickup on in advance. The rest of the IFS BS will just just be cut off with the front half of the frame.

Hmmm. It will take only about an hour to cut out the IFS and at that point, swap the pan and pickup over (and trust me, you will have down time with no front end on it....waiting for parts or something...). But to yank the diff out now and swap the pan now seems like a nightmare! Plus are you pulling the whole diff or just the 3rd? If its the whole diff, then what are you going to do about the axle/cv's? You cant run with out them... I'm told.

But I don't mean to be a nae sayer here...

I already have my 2wd conversion "holy s*** i blew up the front end and need to get it home" kit consisting of two outer stub shafts. However valid points john. It should take 10 mins to cut the IFS off this thing, its unbolt the bumper, unbolt the motor, weld a temporary brace under the trans so i don't die when the engine falls on me, unbolt the front body mount and two cuts right where the frame starts to bend in.

Once you get the diff out the oil pans easy to get to.

Meh fxxx it ill leave it in there in case i want to go wheeling again.

At's more like it. :)

Took Conner & I (2 rookies) bout an hour to cut off my IFS cause we didn't know what we were doing. And Conner only caught on fire twice!

You'll be unstoppable in a real rig G.

I'm excited to see it come together!

We didn't even do it the chop off the entire front frame section and don't fxxx with the ifs style. The plasma cutter is awesome. Hoff should be done in 30 mins with it.

Speaking of which, pick a date to cut this bitch up so I can plan to come up and help

Need to save some pennies and order up fror's bling keyed knuckles and steering arms. After that I should have the parts to do the major fab work (chopping and swinging and axle under it). Dates will be posted.

So you're gonna fab up an entire new front frame?
How'd I miss that in the earlier posts?
This should be interesting.

That's the new wave of sas's tony. The advantage is that its less cutting/grinding, less welding, quicker and its stronger. You don't have to weld all those reinforcement plates in there. You can also get the frame up a bit higher so you can keep the front end a bit lower.
