Indeed we can! I was sitting here looking at the pic i took last night and trying to wrap my head around how the frame would not bend out or create stress risers if i cut slits and beat them flat against the new frame and welded. However if i did go flat against the frame i could make the fish plates shorter and they would play nice with the future shock mounts and mitigate some potential tire rub. Another plus of going flat is 3/16s sucks to bend with my medieval level of metal working tools.

Perhaps I'm overthinking it, and should just fire up the welder ans start burning s*** together.

It's only metal you can out smart it. Weld it up. That is how neat new ideas are born, when the old plan will not work anymore, and you have to come up with plan B or C......

I like the just start burning it together idea best

Mark: true

Joe: thats what im thinking now.

Better get busy less than 3 weeks to badlands

Looking good Hoff!
If you guys ever stoop to the level of 12 yr old girly txting please include me, 16 is over my head.

Solo working coupled with my lack of confidence in fab and welding has led to alot of laying under the truck, mocking up, more laying, mock up, laying, reading, mocking.... i do plan on burning some metal tonight though. Much rather miss a wheeling trip then have this thing break apart in the quarry or worse, or me miss a step. It was the same work pace when i built my duals the first 3 times lol!!

Welding lessons via text has helped alot!

Just stick it together and take it to PYS. Then Joe can Weld it up the right way for you. That's what I do.

Lol!!

I should make him some business cards

I like it, I can see people lining up.
Most of them from our group.

Thank you Joe and evreyone for the fab tips last night, i was skeptical at first pounding the frame flat, but that curve is going to add a nice surface to weld the scab plates to when i reinforce it. I filled in all the gaps so it looks marginally less hack now. The welding gods were not on my side last night, hopefully they will work with me this weekend and i can start mocking up suspension and crap.

Half ass booty fab and drawing cawks on steel takes time!

I did some other stuff, like flip songs on my phone until i found ones that i liked, swept, grindeded, welded up the front of the frame, waited until someone walked by to start welding so i looked like i knew what i was doing, you know the important stuff!!

I'm located in Illinois.

John came over the other day and helped me setup the suspension and built me some spring mounts. The front end is going together way too easy, I'm freaked out....

Getting closer, I should have it sitting on the front axle next week.
