Yeah it's not by choice. I mean, look what Joey spent on his rebuild. Or what @COYS is shelling out. Could buy five Cruisers for that. Love to do that at some point (Joey-style rebuild AND buy five Cruisers and a garage to put 'em in and a new house to go with the garage). But that ain't happening near-term. Need a reliable stopgap to buy me some time. Now, while it's true that no one expects Fords to run for half a million miles, I built 460s in my youngster days--with quality aftermarket parts--and never had a problem. So I'm thinking aftermarket will do me for now, and for long enough. Posting up in the aftermarket rebuild thread is an effort to shortcut the homework you mention...
