PLEASE HELP! On my GX470 I wan't to keep the AHC in LO or HI all the time! Override?

How can I do this. Anyone done it before.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

Are you asking so that you can lift your gx? I was unable to force the truck to stay in low or hi so I just moved the ride height sensor brackets to create a new and 2" higher baseline as far as where L/N/H is.

This is my new "normal" position:

That...would be a -fantastic- writeup for this site...

That is exactly the height I would like my GX to have (when I get one)

That is the first GX I've seen without the running boards. Nice!

I was under the impression the AHC just lifted or lowered the rear--at least thats all I can tell it's doing on my wife's ride (2006). How did you lift the front of your GX? New Coils or Spacers? If so, did you use a kit designed for the Runner or the Prado? The picture above of your truck is giving me dirty ideas of what I'm going to do her ride once it becomes my DD and retire the 80 to full-time hunting and trail :D.

Thanks,
Justin

Wow! Awesome job. Did you de-wing it too?
Now, just to square off that 3rd side window by shooting some flat black paint( or better yet removable decal) to make a nice smooth visual from the side. :D

If you're around, I'd still like to know how you did this....:hhmm:

Digging up an old thread thanks to search function, but I am thinking of getting a GX470 and wondering if I can lift by tweaking AHC sensors like I have done in the past on LX470s. Is this the same system? I keep seeing posts about “air”... it is a hydraulic type system on LXs. Any help much appreciated!!

Yes it’s just air bags in the back only. The rear can be lifted by adding some washers or spacers. It will make the ride firm however due to the extra pressure in the bags at all times.

I believe they have speed limits on the heights. If you go over a certain speed, it goes back to normal. Check the manual.

If you put it in low or high for the height control, then yes its speed limited but thats not what was asked. Yes you can trick the sensors so that High becomes Normal to raise the truck. Without adding spacers to the sensors you can't do this.

Ok cool, thanks for the info. So, even though y’all have the same switch as the LXs it’s function and system are totally different, so strange. And even two different type systems it sounds like. Weird... so how are y’all lifting these vehicles? Front lift/leveling kit and sensor mod in the back?

You can also simply pull the threaded adjusters out and shorten them (if I remember correctly) to trick the sensors, no spacers needed.

Most people ditch the rear air suspension and do a coil spring swap when they lift the truck. Stock only the rear goes up or down. The front is set by the springs and can't be adjusted.
