please help me with a warn 8200 winch

I am looking for help on a 8200 warn winch. According to others I have talked to this winch was only made for 9 months sometime around 1973. Warn no longer sells parts for this model, but supposedly a guy in MN does. But not all parts are available, just certain ones. I need to know how to separate the brake assembly from the gear inside the housing. It almost appears as if it is all one piece, but I know better than that. I hate to start beating it with a hammer because I dont want to break any parts that arent replaceable. Any help would be nice.......if anyone has one of these, or knows someone that has one of these winches, I would greatly appreciate the help, Thanks.
