Folks,

I could use some help here. I have this old warn winch that needs some help. Warn model 8000 and 8000capacity. It looks like a 8274 but I'm unsure It does not have the free wheel knob. It does have a broken lever. Doesn't seem to do anything in or out. I also need to build a solenoid pack I found some good write ups on the net and here. just need to find the "noids". And hopefully a mount for a 40.

Thanks

man, this squeezer brake is too much...! :)

try and figure out what vintage this is...

I don't mind running it from the outside of the rig. Any idea on how to wire it up???

thanks
bob

The vintage is around 1973; I had one on my 73-FJ40 (new in 1973). That dam brake is worthless, it won't hold or slow u much on a hill.

try this

I have a spare control set for this winch. I dont really know how much to ask for it since its pretty much unobtainium. If you want it make an offer. Otherwise, all you really need are three cables. OR, even better, two cables and a continuous duty relay. I would update it to at least that over a cable operated on/off. That would be safer. YOu could probably use choke cables or similar to operate the rest.

The guy in minnesota referenced in the link above may have control parts for it.

I have a complete control cable setup for your winch that I would be willing to sell - looks identical to the one pictured in the link in post #7.
