Hey there all readers. Im looking for help from some of you (pro) enthusiasts. I have completed my 71 fj project and am now ready to list it for sale. This is for real and I can already hear the smart a$$ remarks but I am really looking for some advice. this is a complete frame off and one of a kind fj. It starts with the 71 fj body. I mated this to a 1981 Toyota Hilux frame and running gear. It took stretchig the rear tub by 24 1/2 ". The power is from a built chevy 350. has all the goodies including flat top pistons, cam, gear drive timing, edelbrock intake and carb and all the bells and whistles. a 700r4 mated to np208. custom drive lines connect to stock toyota axles. vented slotted brake rotors and complete rebuilt callipers. every wire nut and bolt was taken off and cleaned or replaced. frame has new cross members and supports. 31 gal aluminum fuel cell and so on and so on!!! in other words this was one he double L of a project. It is rubber coated on ALL surfaces and it all turned out really nice.

OK. IF you read this far maybe you could help me. I need a place to start on selling this. I have never done a project like this and have no idea where to start on the pricing. From what I can figure I have about $8,000 in parts. As for documentation I took almost 400pics of the build. I understand that putting a price on time is really hard but I just want a ballpark...

I was going to start at 8k on ebay. What do yall think.

WHY are you selling it???
If it were me, I'd start higher! However, that kind of mod list is gonna appeal to a more limited population.
I tend to be skeptical of other people's work, especially work as invasive as what you have done there.
Never hurts to start high and come down. I think you'll know pretty quick.
Another place to put this is in the classifieds here on mud. Folks here will give you (sometimes PAINFULLY) a good idea where it should be priced.
Sucks you're selling it!!! All that work and all.

Is it street legal where you live?

On to the next one

Why I am selling is simple.. Got the fab bug BAD!!! Already purchased a 2006 Tacoma TRD Prerunner. Going to strip that one down to frame and add 74 FJ body. Not sure why but I love the extended fj concept. I know it hurts allot of yall but I cant help it. I want a prerunner FJ with long arm and tons of travel. Thanks for the advice and I hope that the houndreds of pictures will help with buyer worries about craftsmanship! Not too common anymore but I take PRIDE in workmanship!

The subtract part is a bit hard to swallow but what the heck.

8k into her div by 2 is 4k. And subtract around 1000 hrs of my time. I guess I will be paying someone about 4500$ to take it off my hands. Ouch!!! I think I will list it on eBay and start the bidding at 8k. See what happens. Thanks y'all.

i might be missing something here .no windshield wipers? no way to add a top without spending a lot of cash.plus its ugly .put it on ebay and see what happens .in pa to get antique plates the vehicle has to be restored to original it seems like the plate is circumventing some laws, however the workmanship seems good.

Yep.. there was the one I was waiting for.... No windshield wipers because they were being COMPLETELY disassembled and rebuilt (attention to detail) and as for the top.... If you have a small amount of skill stretching a factory hard top is no problem. Now the looks department... that I cant help ya with, I was quite specific in asking for pricing ADVICE only........ Oh well.

LOL

You should know that you will get opinions on everything whether you ask or not ;)

The thing that scares me the most are these words..

"I have never done a project like this....."

Just on this one sentence alone I would not buy this rig.. Might want to leave that out of your for sale add.

Again with the off track answers. I guess all the time I spent in Iraq working on our vehicles to keep the troops that were fighting to give YOU the freedom to pos these answers to questions I dident even ask means nothing at all. I am not seeking advice on registration or criticize my building skills. I SIMPLEY kent that I have never done a project of this depth and tryed to pRICE it for sale. I guess all halls knowledge ( and that's why I posted here ) is kept for people demed worthy. Glad I spent six years in hell getting shot at for this.
Thanks!

You need to lay off the coffee.

Pricing depends on a lot. Someone might think it was the coolest thing next to sliced bread. Others may not. See what happens on your ebay thread and go from there.

I'll be the first to thank you for your service! I thank all my military friends. Glad you made it back.

You're on a public forum, I have no clue who you are, what you do, where you are, unless you wrote it down for us to know. There are a lot of people here all with different opinions

I wasn't criticizing your build talent, I like how it looks.. i was just trying to say leave that tidbit out of your for sale add. Also you even paraphrased your question with the red bold below..

I would say you're at a good price 8K

Cheers,

Posting more pics, or better a link to the build pics would help us think about the price. I like FJ43s and this looks cool to me.

not a 43 .. read his first post... 40 body extended on a hilux frame..
