when is someone going to make a skid plate not to change the subject.
do you think the engine covers extra weight cuts down on mpg:D
oops sorry about the kittens.

I think it's like the bezzel on a 40...if it's not there or it's not installed correctly your cruiser WILL explode.

"Yeah, I seen it. Damn sumbeech just POW-POW! Big fire...I said dang...betcha that feller's in a world 'a hurt."

I think it protects engine from rookie mechanics ...:wrench::bang:

i cleaned my TB yesterday with absolute easy. One hose clamp and the intake was out of the way. No annoying cover to take off! Why didnt i take this thing off sooner?
Yeah! Now just remove the plastic hub covers, then you can easy repack weelbearings anytime! :flipoff2:

i cant find paint to perfectly match my hubcaps to my powdercoat wheels, so i might just run without hubcaps

Didn't you go with flat black on your wheels? Just rattle can 'em.

That's what I did and it's close enough, well for me anyway.

Maybe you're looking at them under some metal halide system... :flipoff2:

exactly. I bought some OEM black trim paint going to try that.

Question: does anyone know if the small black 4.7L cover will fit on the LCs 4.7?

removed mine today, after attempting to add padding several months ago, it still buzzes at idle. sigh. it was sounding like a kubota

anyone who removed the cover encountered trouble w/ sensors failing that were previously protected?

Nope. Going on 70K without it. I can't really say if mud or dirt gets anywhere else without it. My engine bay is brown already

I finally got mine to stop buzzing after trying diff rubber washers. The combo that worked in the end was a quarter inch AND a one eight inch fender sized rubber washers on each mount. The two pads are shot but haven't made a difference as of yet. Just had to get it back on for the OEM look and I have much crap in my garage, didn't need more.

Mine has been off for a couple of years with no negative effect. I took it off because of the buzzing at idle.

I ditched mine (actually up in attic) about a minute after removing the running boards...just another 4 fasteners and a big piece of plastic to remove before working on the engine top side.

Only ornamental...had to go.
