Moving my Fj80 into a 17" wheel so I gotta get some new rubber. Have been doing a bunch of research and these Pirelli's came up with a pretty sweet deal at Walmart. Very few reviews on MUD but quite a few good reviews on the inter web 'bout them.

Anyone have some recent, real work experience ? Other ideas ?

My situation: loaded '97 V8 FJ80 with RTT and other stuff used mainly for off-road camping trips and light/medium wheeling, not my DD. More road use since here in Norcal you gotta go 'bout three hours on the road before you can get onto a decent 'out of the way' trail.

Thanks !!!

No idea on the MTR variant, but the scorpion a/t that a mate had on his lwb patrol were total garbage in the oz bush. They'd puncture & go flat as soon as a hard desert twig or root got near them.

Just a few examples on a couple of trips:

Spare got a flat later too.

Another trip. Actually 2 flats in this pic, front left and rear right... Fortunately we have the gear to repair them.

Anyhow, maybe the MTR flavour are better... maybe they aren't...

cheers,
george.

Thanks George !

I have them on my '07 Nissan Xterra and I really like them for my usage which is just about all highway/city. I don't believe I would consider them real off road tires just a good all weather tire for a regular SUV, not one I would use in the Outback or mountain mining and logging 4wd trails. Put them on your family Suburban, Tahoe, Explorer, Grand Cherokee or your late model "not real" Land Cruisers and stay on the paved or well used suburban dirt/gravel roads. This is my 2nd set of tires since the Xterra was new, They are much superior in tread life than the original Bridgestones.
