My dad just bought a 1985 mini short wheel base that he wants to start building. He wants a Pinnacle lift from JTO as he has one on his FJ40 with no problems other then it being stiff.
I tried to talk him into Superlift springs or Downey springs, he doesnt want either...
Anybody have bad experiences with Pinnacle on a mini? I know of the horror stories on the 60s and pulled all that up when I did a search.

You can PM me if it is a repost or hook me up with a link. Cant seem to find anything relating specifically to a mini with one of these kits.

TIA

Go with Marlin or Deaver Springs.. He won't be disappointed.

If he wants to "start building it" I would buy the whole "kit" from marlin crawler and be done with it. http://www.marlincrawler.com/suspension.html Once your dad lifts the front the steering needs to be redone so you may as well do it all at once. If you want to go the cheap route then just get a highsteer kit and put the rears on the front and put some chevys on the rear, put in two lockers, some longs, and wheel the piss out of it.

If he lifts it much over stock he is going to have to get rid of the push pull steering or he will be ripping off J arms on most wheeling missions.

Well he will do kits, thats been his plan anyway. I only see a 5in kit from Marlin, and I think he wants to stay around the 3" lift.

Thanks,

If he wants a small lift tell him to look at OME. I have never heard anyone complain about anything but the price and they make low lifts like 3in. He will still probably have to get a drop draglink if he runs the pushpull steering and carry a driverside J steering arm with him when he wheels.
