His lockrite, unlocked ;p

Gosh, Cardinal Fang, I really gotta thank you for posting to all my peers that:
1) I got carnage on a 45 run.
and:
B) I got such a big belly.
Least you coulda done was say something, like, "Smile, PigHead".
And kept quiet about my tiny little bit of carnage, on a 45 run, that required a good bit of strapping by the God-like Splitpea...
Too dark to pull the lok-rite last night, pulled it this morning, put in the old side gears and spiders that every good Knight must carry when lok-rited...
Marcus and Kelly took off, in their mono-chrome green Pig, as soon as they saw I was mobile. I was not left alone. I made it home about sundown, no problem.
Pics of the carnage? right here...

Obviously, they have not seen my belly ;p
I just thought that was a good candid shot of you looking so stately.

Being strapped is part of the sport. At Rubithon, I had a double winch setup to get me out of a spot where I would have ended up in Buck Island lake if I rolled.

I had my troubles too. Power steering was bad when we started, then 3 hours later in the outback, I was very concerned about just getting back to camp.

That lockrite looks bad. Were the axles damaged? I run two lockrites and never had any problem with them. As you saw, I run 38s. You plan on sending it in under warranty?

Getting strapped on the Rubicon is one thing. Getting strapped on a 45 run is embarassing. I was sorta getting concerned about making it back too.
The splines on the axles looked OK, but I didn't pull the axles out. Should I have?
Hadn't thought of the Lok-rite warrenty, how long is it? This loker is about 4 years old...

Yeah, how do we get that pig head sticker????

pighead i hope i'm not stepping on your toes, and we'll always remember you as the original pig stickered pig:

just go to your local skateboard shop, pig is a brand of bearings, wheels and other cool skateboard stuff. my boy is loyal to this brand and alienware, which has a cool logo too.
while your there the logo can be found on everything from shirts to hats to wallets.

I would just send it in and see what they say. They may or may not replace/fix it. At worst your out the shipping charge. They are very good about customer support. We called them once and asked for one of the little studs and springs. They sent us a half dozen for no charge.

Skateboard pigs.....hmmmmm, sounds good to me.

Post mortem analysis:

It looks like wear at the leading edges of where the coupler contacts the center shaft was the proximate cause of the failure. This would increase the clearance between the couplers and allow the couplers to rotate too much relative to each other, putting excessive stress on the pins. Set up could contribute to this, but if the clearance was correct when installed, it increased due to wear. Thicker side gear shims may have corrected this, but the metal may also be soft because I have not seen this much wear on other lockrites.
