Piggy's for sell in KC

Got the pigs home a couple weekends ago and have been tinkering. As mentioned in the auction, the guys drove the '70 for years until the engine blew and while taking the time to rebuild it, he found the '71 that ran. He took the engine out of the '71 and that's where he left off and sold it as is 3 years later. The engine that blew up he had completely apart and the block was sitting in the mud in a barn and was of little value to me so I didn't bring it back.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to both of the pigs. the '70 being primarily rust free on the bottom half had once been laid over on its side. Roof work had been done and the whole roof is bondo's and etc. The roof rack is riveted into the sides of the pillars and has stressed the pillars. The '71 has bad rot along the whole bottom and the body mounts are rusted away, etc. The roof however is in great shape with no major cancer poking through or anything and no bondo anywhere. I plan to eventually cut the bad roof, windshield frame and pillars off the '70 and put the good matching top half from the '71 onto the '70. LOTS of work ahead.

Almost every part is there with the exception of the bad engine. Included with the sale was original engine and chassis manuals and receipts for all work done and parts bought throughout the time the PO had owned it. There are multiple receipts from $OR including a used transfer case that was rebuilt by a Toyota dealer in Cali shortly after.

Got the engine in last weekend and plan to get it running this coming weekend. Also need to work on the brakes.. all the fluid has leaked out of the master cylinder so I will have to rebuild that. Here are some pics of the pigs. pic 022.webppic 025.webppic 014.webp
