So...my truck is a 9/73. It has the F.5 motor in it. It now has a aisin carb back on it. We are working on rebuilding the accelerator linkage. Herein lies the issue. I don't know if it's a cable (pre 9/73, I am told non inclusive) or linkage with a rod (9/73 and on). So that being said, it should have the linkage (or remnents from when the PO converted to a Weber). But it doesn't.

Also, it has the one pronged gas pedal, indicating a cable linkage. So, the folks at SOR say it should be linkage, but damned if I can see the parts on the pedal and brackets and what not on the firewall.

Any ideas?

My 73 has a cable. It is not stock, but the pedal is definitely a cable type. My 78 was a linkage and was very different.

The cable type pedal assy. ends before the firewall. The linkage type protrudes through the firewall with a pink accordion boot.

dont know if this helps, but Marks has a cable / linkage assy that joins a cable gas pedal to a linkage carb. I just used one to work the carb on my 2F powered 69 pig....

my 9/'73 was linkage. Its pretty similar to FJ40 linkage. Obviously not exactly swapable, but the idea is the same.

If its linkage, there is a oblong hole above where the gas pedal mounts to firewall-part of the pedal will stick out of this hole, and there will/should be a orange rubber boot there. If cable, there is a hole about where the top of the gas pedal is with a threaded hole on either side-this is where the cable mounts to the firewall.

Just looked it up, if you are FJ5537000 or earlier, its cable, FJ5537001 and newer is linkage.

OK, that helps a lot!!! FJ5534888. Cable it is.

I thought so...it just didn't seem like the linkage parts were there. Thanks so much!!!!
