jackstands under the frame and let the rear suspension droop. Should be able to pull it out. Unbolt it and put a pry bar in the flange to compress the splines on the shaft.

Pics of the new progress?

Thanks, I'll try that. The rear driveshaft bolts are just too tight, I can't budge them, and I couldn't get the driveshaft compressed enough up front to get it down.

I'll take pics of the floors tonight.

Did you get inspected yet?

Driver's side floor repairs. Came out much better then what was there. Just like on the passenger's side, 12x12 squares of 16 gauge steel with bolts then a a bit of fiberglass here and there. MUCH stronger then the multitude of cruddy little patches that were there.

Haven't driven it yet.

The old, loose patch and bolt clunked a bit, hoping my slightly better fix is quiet.

If I still have it this winter I'm cutting out the entire floor and rebuilding with a little help from my friends (that's you all btw).

I was watching Stacy David build a custom hot rod floor on Gearz and it certainly takes some skill but at least now I can envision how it would be done. If you aren't trying to reproduce the factory look/set up then it shouldn't be too horrible. I'd redo the rockers like Joe's blue and white pig at the same time with big hunks of steel. :)

That said, I've found a really solid FJ40 that would be a great buy for me if I could sell the pig. ;)

After my weekend house guests left on Monday I buttoned up the other bad body mount bolt, tightened up the ebrake cable and loaded the rims in the back. Calling around today to see if I can get a tire swap/inspection appointment! :)

You should rattle can that thing this weekend. Seriously. Once you do it and get it looking good you won't be so worried about getting rid of it. I've been kicking myself for selling that 79 pig I had from AU since it left.

Cool, progress is good.

It's taken me more then a year (though I did nothing to it all winter), but it really is a 100% better truck now then when I bought it. :) I'm proud of the work I've done to it, though less proud of my lackadaisical time frame.

Dave, keep it up! I too have been working on one for more than a year at not a very "proud" pace, but its still progress! X2 on the painting...just did mine rattlecan "Sand". Looks much much better! Even the wife tolerates it now...always a plus! Hint Hint ;)
