Holy cow Sam. The FAA is looking for you!

Be careful there, dude! You have a lot of time and money in that rig. it's awesome, but it won't take much of that pounding.:D

ditto you been there done that now not so high next time.:)

As care as can be, but what's time and money if it doesn't put an ear to ear smile on your face right?....

"the scene is a lot like Burning Man, minus the creativity, and with Rednecks and Chicanos instead of Freaks". ----Sammy...never thought of you as a redneck - your parents would be proud!

No redneck could do what I did with as much style and class:cheers:

Hope the videos work not the best recordings but you can see the good stuff.
no bounce on the landing which I owe in great part to the shocks and shock work that went into the truck. There is definitely a weak point in the suspension that would/will be exposed via breakage if I was to do this often, but that's not on the agenda.

Sam:

Very sweet, the landings did not even look that bad. Your truck totally sucked up the landing. You guys picked a really good hill to do this on. Do you want me to see if I can get these on Petersen’s 4Wheel & Off-road website?

Tare

Sammy you’re making me home sick again. I really think I need to leave the board while I'm on this rock.

Shahram,

You were better off unlocked, I really wouldn't run lockers in the sand unless you’re locking just the rear and you’re in 4high. Just to kick the rear end around and throw some sand. Lockers will only dig you deeper and quicker in soft Pismo sand.

I miss my 80.

Thanks for sharing. Impressive landing for a 6K lb cruiser. You obviously have a well built rig. I am thinking I will definitely leave the little man at home. Based on Shahram's story (You have a way with words) I might have to leave the :princess: at home too.

Slomo....While Shahram's experience at Pismo is pretty normal for holidays and the summer the Fall Surf N Turf is a much better environment. I've taken my son the last 3 years (he's 6 now) and we have a blast every year. Lots of other families at the event. Jim puts on a great event for the entire family. I would encourage to try and make it this year.
cheers,
David...

Agree with this. I've taken my son as well and two years ago took wife dtr, son etc. Jim puts on a first class event, don't miss it because of a few knuckleheads. With the whole family in tow, we got a hotel as well.

Sharam's description is classic, and not far from the truth. These drunken fools, all too often, define our sport...

It's no accident Surf N Turf is held in November.

Once the desert cools down, BarterTown moves back to Glamis.

Fall, Winter and Spring are MUCH nicer. SNT is a family event (with plenty of hardcore fun if you like ;) )

BTW, if I see someone DUI, I will turn them in to LE.

Sorry, I missed you Sammy. I had a short weekend and couldn't seem to break away.

Picking the right hill - and landing area - are key to BIG AIR. And, USE A SPOTTER!!!

We may need a jump off at SNT.... Distance, hieght or hang time, hmmmm....

Shahram - great hilarious write up! You do have a creative flare - loved it!

I agree with what folks have said about November - much different. Kids at Jim's event are no problem at all. Silvercruisers kids have been there the last two years and had lots of fun!

great story!
you MUST go to SurfNTurf in November.
it's a whole different scene with 400 toyotas sprawled out over a quarter mile of beach .

and it's not so redneck in the fall. all those crazies are in Poly at that time.

it was really a site to see i have never seen a 80 fly like that except for ammo's 80. i was in the f250 on that jump and it seem like we would never land. i looked over at my buddy and said "s*** we're high". the land wasnt that bad though. he had one busted shock in the front driver side. we mangaged to lose the other side on a later run. i tried to get my 40 in the air but the dune was too big and i couldnt get enough speed. ill try to post my video its a little bit better.

Good to hear. I was hoping/figuring that SNT would be a better crowd. Shahrams description actually sounds like the reason I don't go to glamis anymore. I am all for a good time but having kids reduces my tolerance for stupidity. :D Brent, perhaps I can make it up this year, with a veteran to show me the ropes. ;)
