Thought i would post up some pics of my rear bumper, which is still work in progress. I had a local shop fab it up for me. I will be adding on a rack to the left of the tire that will hold 3 gas cans or cooler and a high lift jack and maybe a CO2 bottle. Not sure how I like the long arm swing out so I may add two pivots later. I had the whole thing built for $650.00. I thought I would add some pics of my GPS mount and laptop mount since everybody asks about it. I will hopefully have some sliders soon!! I will also add some side bars that will protect the rear panels( as you can see I have already hit it).

So where'd you get it done? That looks pretty nice!

You need to upgrade your spare :flipoff2:

Nice bumper. I'm no engineer, but I think 3 full cans of fuel and a CO2 tank and a spare and a hi-lift might be too much weight for a single spindle -- if nothing else, it would be pretty heavy to swing open and closed. The 2 spingle idea might be a better choice for all that weight.

Looks well made though -- I like the protection for the exhaust. Mine's all bashed to hell now :D

Very nice.

Remind me to park half a mile behind you on the trail though, just in case you need to get in the back of your truck. :)

(How'd you bugger up that flare so badly and keep it on?)

The bumper was built by Bigrocks offroad in Washington. Yes, I think you are right about the weight on the single spindle. Not sure what I will put on that end. yes the thing is very very long!! I may not put anything on there and just shorten it up. Not sure if I want two swing outs to open up. I always take my dogs so I open it just about everytime I stop. I busted the tail light on a hill climb at Tillamook (landcruiser just to big). The flare I hit on a big stump. I will post a pic of it. The guy in front of me in his 62 did much more damage than me:)

I am waiting for my worthless X-terrians to wear out and I am going with some BFG allterrians 295's. Hopefully the spare will hold out till then.

I had dual swing outs on my old 62. Nice, but a pain on a daily basis.

I second the dumb question.

why a GPS and a laptop?

nice bumper

Nice setup, where di you get the laptop mount?
Rear bumper looks great. Look at Hanna's rear bumper, he posted a pic w/ double swingouts and triple nato can holder.

You could mount the CO2 in the center of the spare- that always looked kinda cool to me.

lol, I guess so huh?

here is a nifty setup

TJK, unless your GPS receiver can handle GIS (eg., 3-D topo layer, aerial photo, street maps, etc) it is a lot nicer to have the laptop...

Why not just do it all with the laptop was more my question.

I really don't care, was just curious, no criticism intended.

My GPS can (and does) do street maps. I've never found the need for 3D topo maps or aerial photos though.

Old blind guys like it so they can see....also depending on software it can have voice commands.

Nice bumper!

i like the idea of having a laptop in my rig for gps but after sitting in alias truck and feeling how cramped it felt with the lap top i decided i dont think i want one. If you have a lap top, gps, power inverter, cb radio, and or anything else you feel like your getting into a space ship let alone a cruiser. I have something in the works with a hard mount screen on the dash, lap top in the glove box and possibly a wireless keyboard and mouse. I plan to run gps and once the funds get there a new software which will allow me to do OBD2 while my truck is running. i would be able to do everything from a running a dyno to shutting off engine lights, to graphing everything and changing settings if i should feel so inclined.

let you know how it all works out when i get there.

LOVE the laptop - would include wi-fi and maybe bluetooth Palm...down the road. Pass on the GPS - opt for a dash-mount compass from Discovery store bargain bin :flipoff2:
