I searched for a while and finally found this FJ-60. The engine, clutch, radiator, and AC are all new or rebuilt. I'm having some new tires put on it and the rig was repainted about 10 years ago and the paint still looks good. I'd like to put a lift, bumpers, a winch, and some fresh paint and interior on her. The guy I'm buying it from said it has been in San Antonio all it's life and has no rust. :D

I was wanting to tackle the interior first. The seats could use some sprucing up. I also wanted to pull the carpet and coat the floor with some POR-15. Other than that it needs some stereo work and a new dash (the current one is cracked). I also want to look at getting some seat extensions since I'm tall (6'4"). ANy other suggestions? Maybe replace the weather stripping?

Strong blue- good color- no need to por 15 the interior if no rust. Just put sound deadener and you should be good to go. Procar makes seats that are good quality and pretty reasonably priced. Wagongear is your friend for weatherstripping. Also quickly order one of Taskled before there gone. Buy the dashcover from spector, easy install and no one will no the difference except you. Welcome to the addiction, your wallet will not know what hit it.

That looks like a nice one. What year would that one be?

Personally, I would start with the suspension if the springs are original and I'm guessing that they are by the rear end sag. You're going to love your rig if you've been looking for awhile, I still remember picking mine up...and driving 1500 miles home.

And the best color too. Congrats!

It is an '84 and I'm betting the shocks are original. The guy I'm buying it from is the second owner. The first one used it to drive from San Antonio to College Station daily. Needless to say it has a lot of highway miles. I will keep y'all updated on the condition of the metal in the cab.

What about the panels for the back that Wagon Gear makes?? Are they useful for storage?

Are the Procar seats made to provide more leg room?

You use your stock sliders, but they do give a little more leg room and are a 1000x more comfortable.

crazy front bumper...

Yeah on closer examination it looks like something they just fabbed up using the factory front bumper. Oh well! I'll use it to bump stuff for a little while without having to worry about messing my stuff up! As I said earlier I'm planning on replacing it with an ARB or similar brand of bumper.

How do you guys feel about coating the frame? If there is no rust would you do it?

WORD! Check out his website, or link, to see how much he can fit in the tailgate alone.

Only downside: waiting your turn.

There's a cool thread in here somewhere about mods for under $50. Great way to scratch the itch while you're saving up bux for the big stuff.

TX650L, Where do you live?

I live in the North Houston area. My family lives in Montgomery TX and I am often up that way.

On another note I called the guy and it looks like they did not cut the frame. The frame extends past the grill 3-4" and the seller said that their are three bolt holes on top of the frame rail. That grill guard thing is mounted to three bolt holes on the side and a small tack weld on the back. :steer:

Aww shucks, thanks guys.
Nice new cruiser!
My vote is to save up for OME and a 5 speed. Everything else is gravy! (but gravy is good too....)

Tell me about it! How long have you been waiting for your panels now? ;p I totally had a  moment with yours today, been trying to get your evap holder sorted out (and get the other panels out of the shop so I could afford to keep playing with yours) but anyway, totally figured it out, stupid simple, simple enough for no extra charge!
