VVTi ROX.

:grins:

Having never driven an 06/07, does VVTi make a pretty substantial improvement?

I'm jealous as hell, by the way. That thing is immaculate.

It's +40 HP and better transmission gear ratios w/ the 5-speed slushbox. It's actually pretty quick.

Still on the road. 500-miles down, 200-miles to go.

Showoff:)

16.1 MPG on first tank, and I was playing a little early on. Cruise was then set on 77 and RPM @ 2500 with some stop/go (Hard) mixed in. Speed verified w/ Garmin, too. Not bad at all!

VVTi does make a difference. Makes it quite driveable though still not a rocket.

More so than the VVTi, I think the 5spd is what makes the most drivability difference. The ratios are just that much better on long, high-altitude uphills.

First impressions are... well... impressive.

The 40HP and 5-speed makes is a pleasure to drive compared to an OEM older UZJ on the highway and on the road. It's relatively flat and basically under 500-ft above sea level here, so no hill climbing so far.

The JBL audio system is a NICE upgrade from the older UZJ OEM system as well. Braking is better, and overall feel of the truck seems to be more agile. Suspension feels about the same except I can now tell that my shocks were honestly in need of replacement.

The dealer didn't remove the pinstripes because they were worried about paint fade on a 4-yr old truck. I peeled a corner back and it's fine, so I'll remove myself. Won't be a big deal.

So, already cranked the T-bars 1", giving me 1/2" rake with the 3rd row installed and ~1" with them removed. Will be doing the NAV bypass so I can access functions while not in Park soon, and will have to get those pinstripes off. :D

Hmmmm, about the tape deck. Thinking out loud here, but how sweet would it be to get a Slee iPhone adapter and somehow mount it inside the tape deck slot after gutting all the crap in there. Simply slide the iPhone in the tape slot and it plugs in and you have access to your library or Pandora...

I might have to check that out and see how it could be done. :D

Joe, the lead tech at Slee, has worked up a sliding insert that fits in the ashtray rack that's pretty cool. Ham, CB, etc?? Hope I haven't said too much already!

Ya it's really slick. Next time he'll be installing a full desktop computer that folds out of the dash!

that sounds awesome! Very convenient instead of an ashtray...well since I have no use for the ashtray anyways:)

Awesome idea. Tape opening is way too small unless it's an iPod.

Bama congrats on the Galactic '07

Thanks. I was slammed today. Going to try to get some goood DSLR pics tomorrow before it gets dark.

The only time the power is limited is on hills. On extended grades at highway speed its best to preemptively shift to "4" and not wait for the down shift to happen by itself. Other then that not all that much is gained with a 400hp engine, other then towing maybe.

Congrats on your sweet 100!

I wonder who'd win in a drag race, straight-up. Me (or anyone), with DT headers, spare tire/muffler deletion, or your new whip? I've just been so impressed with these headers, I had to ask:grinpimp:

...pretty sure you'd still whip me.

Only if the headers gave you 60+ hp and a 5th gear:flipoff2::D

Try braking with ECT PWR on, it will downshift to increase engine breaking

I'll have to try it with the PWR switch on, but our '03 seems to downshift when braking all of the time? Sorry for the hijacks - nice '07 but I haven't seen any 100 clunkers here yet!
