As some of you already know, I have been looking to buy a LC/LX for a long time and last week I pulled the trigger on a 2006 LX470 with only 65k miles.
I picked it up in Toronto today and I got the chance to drive it 3.5 hours home.
What a sweet ride, just awesome. I averaged 17 mpg, not bad I think. Still have to make it more mine. A few tweaks here and there and I need a new antenna.
But other then that I am happy as a monkey with seven tails.

Man, seeing your tan 40 makes me miss the hell out of mine.
Congrats.

Congrats on the purchase!! Adding another one I see.

Yesterday I got the chance to play with my new toy. I have made a list of things I want to do.

They did a decent job delivering the LX although they didn't fix the antenna. No big deal, I will do it myself. They did fix the airconditioning and it was pretty clean. Not to my standards but good enough. When I drove it back I fell totally in love with it. Just an awesome vehicle, exactly what I want. it feels tight and very solid, everything works and it is very quiet.

DHL delivered my bluetooth module, a BT35. A real nice gadget. It took some time to build it in because I had to disassemble the dash but it worked out good. I love how Toyota (and Lexus) build stuff. Everything makes sense to me, nothing broke and everything went nicely back together again. The module uses the dvd changer connection (which I won't be using anyway) and connects via bluetooth to my iPhone. I can stream music and use it as a car kit. It works great and I can even operate it with the buttons on my dash and steering wheel. There are some threads on the module.

I also fixed th ashtray. It wouldn't pop out because they but the cigarette lighter in there and it got stuck and dislodged the metal lip. I was hoping to find the spare key there but the lighter is a good second. The ashtray is spring loaded and of course it exploded when I tried to force it open it out so it took me quite some time to put it all back together again but it works.

There is still a lot to do, the antenna of course and also a new navigation disk, both ordered on eBay. The nav I have now is really outdated. It could even find my home let alone get me there. It took me all over the place we driving back from Toronto. A good thing I know where it is. Not a very good system, those aftermarket ones and the one on my phone are way better. I can't even imagine how expensive it was when new. Too bad I won't be able to replace it with a better system.

I also ordered a set of weathertech floor mats online. It now has one Land Rover (!) mat at the passenger side, a Acura mat at the drivers side and piece of Audi mat in the trunk that fits nowhere, haha. That's what you get when you get a good deal I guess.

I also need a remote for the after market dvd player in the back. Not that I will be using it but if it's there I want it to work. It is a AudioVox Advent ADV8SR Overhead System. Not impressed with it. Much has changed if you look at electronics the last couple of years.

I am also looking into a second key. I only have one now, which is scary. It apparantly is pretty difficult and expensive because it is chipped and I don't have a key code. It is a US vehicle wich would probably make it even harder to find a spare key. Help would be appreciated.

And then there are other things like winter tires and wheels. I am not sure what would look good and I don't want steelies. But is still have some time intil snow falls. It will also go for undercoating next week.

I am also going to change the AHC fluid (the automatic hight control). I needs to be done at 60k miles and I am pretty sure they didn't. It should improve the ride quality even more. There is a nice write up here. I used to own a couple of Citroëns (a 2CV, a CX and a XM) and you can't beat them when it comes to suspension. The Lexus system is not as good, but it doesn't break as often as the French version.

I also took all day to detail it. It turned out pretty good. I used this some kind of black wax that was on sale at Canadian Tire. It is a two step process (actually 4 steps) but it took out most of the minor scratches and swirls. A lot of work but the LX feels more mine now. I still have to give the interior a good scrub but that will have to wait for next week.
All in all I am very happy wih my purchase.

If it's a US vehicle then just call a US dealer and order another key. When I got my 04 it only have one key and I got a second from CDan at American Toyota in New Mexico. Best price, was around $250 USD.

Could they produce key with only the VIN number?

You give them the VIN and they will look up the key code and cut it to that. I had good luck buying an uncut Toyota key fob online (eBay) from "keys_star" for $90. I imagine they have a Lexus logo version too. I then took it to my buddy at Toyota, they looked up my key code and they cut it for free. I had already programmed it using the dog and pony show methods listed here: (Post 81) transponder programming. Sounds like it can be a pain in the ass for some but it only took me 3-4 tries with someone reading the directions to me as I did the procedure.

Good luck and congrats on finding one North of the border.

Thanks. I will look into the key problem. I will also go to the local Lexus dealer and see if they have dealt with this problem before.
It's a bit of a hassle to call a Lexus dealership as a Non American and ask them to do this.
So if there is anyone on the forum that can provide me with a key and is able to cut it, that would be even better. I have Paypal and I can PM my vin if needed.

I had to take the LX on a longer trip yesterday (approx 5hrs) and it was an awesome ride. What a great vehicle.

The only thing that bothered me was that the Airbag light was flashing the first part of the trip. We made a stop half way (for about an hour or so) and when we continued the journey the light went out as usual and was not flashing anymore. I have been searching some threads here but nothing really explained it. I think it is a warning that the side airbag or seat belt tensioners are not working properly.

Long shot on the airbag light...but some cars will turn off the airbag if someone weighing less than a certain amount is in the seat. Seems unlikely they would implement that as a flashing light vs. a constant light (as in a Porsche), however...

Thanks for thinking with me but I looked it up in the manual and it has something to do with a malfunction of the tensioners or the side and curtain airbags. The vehicle had been sitting for a long while so I am thinking that all systems still have to wake up a bit if you know what I mean. If the light is on but doesn't flash it would be something with the front airbags. The light didn't come on anymore so I am hoping it was just a fluke.
I cleaned the battery connections and greased them up hoping it would clear the codes too. When I connected everything again my VGRS light was blinking. It scared me for a moment but after googling I concluded the the steering sensor needed to be re-calibrated. Just driving a bit cleared it up again. There sure are a lot of electronics in there. I still don't fully trust the LX. It will take a while to become friends like all relationships I guess.

Did you get the LX that was at Mazda of Toronto? Nice ride!!! Are you in the Toronto area? I'm in Windsor and we don't have many LX vehicles here. I have the only hundy in this part of the province. :(

Yep, that's the one. I got a good deal on it (I think). I googled the vin and it popped up at Nipash Auto sales too, it was there for sale before Mazda of TO took it. I had been sitting for a long while and they really wanted to get rid of it. The sales manager showed me his invoice which was $8K more then what I payed. Has a few things that could be better, but nothing major.
I live in Delta, about 3.5 hours east of Toronto. No 100's in my neck of the woods either. Most people never seen one live before. It's an amazing vehicle. I totally love it.

Congrats on your new vehicle. I'm in the TO area too. Just North of the city. There are quite a few here. Mostly LX570's that I see nowadays. Never leave the pavement. I really love ours. And it sees dirt now and then.

I have some spare 16" OEM rims. A few sets actually. In case you are looking for some for your winter tires. I just drive with 33" BF/AT year-round. They actually have a snow rating on the sidewall.
