Well, all I can say is it is about time. Hard to find unit. I will clean it, then find some one in the lower mainland where I can sandblast it. I know there is ublast in langley bc, but a little far to drive. What primer and or paint should be put on this compressor after its been stripped? Where to get parts for the york210 should I need them? I am in the greater Vancouver area. I need a bracket for this compressor. Anyone here have plans or, have one for the 3b motor? Also, need a tensioner? and additional crank pulley?

LASTLY the same pile of old compressor has a Mopar RV-2 !! These units put out even more cfm then a york 210 but, I do not know where to get parts for it. It seems frozen. Anyone know where to get parts for them? He wants to sell it to me for 20 bucks.

Haryv.
I thought I read that you are a mechanic of the mobile flavour ?
The York has an internal crankcase that is somewhat sealed for it's lubrication, while the rotary Vane is not, and requires the freon lubrication closed system .

Yorks were never factory installed on any Yota as I know of, and a 3B only had an freon compressor as of 1984 to 1985 as far as the info I have found.Plus those are fixed squash plate type.

Ohh I am. I just do not have a supplier of parts ;) I will be tearing mine down, inspect for wear, and replace the seals. Might have to find a shop to fab up a bracket and then welt two or three pieces together.

This should be interesting project and try and do it in one day.

Does he have any more York 210's? Want to put one on my 80.

Does not have any motorcrafts

These are just tossed into a pile with 50 other or more old beat up compressors. High risk that it could, or could not run. Expect that there COULD be somethign wrong with them. I did the turn test on this one and it was not frozen like the other one.

I may just as a side form of income, buy them dirt cheap, then rebuild them or change parts to make a good one and test it for a while.

If it gets cycled on at high RPM's (3.5k+) they will come apart.
The Ford (62-85) / Volvo's(71-84) used steel mounting brackets for these compressors.

Hi Haryv,
l got your pm,l will post some pictures here.
The compressor was mounted on a 81 BJ42,l was building a rockrawler with H55 and Marlin toybob,so the engine was moved forward 4",there was not much room between the engine and the fame,so l built a low profile bracket to mount the york 210.
here are some pics.

Ohh you have the bj42. Isnt that the vehicle where the hood wraps around and half way over the engine bay?

BTW, to bad you did not have dimensions on the brackets. At least now I can see where you attached the pieces and fabricated up the pieces together. It is a good starting point.

this is the truck.

pretty nice.

Just tore down my motor craft. Very clean with some water inside. Cylinder walls in excellent shape. Smooth movment of pistons. Now I think I need to plug that port that run down the 10 ockock position in relation to the front shaft.

simonlie,

Your pulley arrangement is different then what the dealership shows in there diagram but, the clearity of the diagram is probably in question. I see your first grove powers the alternator and water pump? Then second pulley grove powers the AC pump? then the second bolt on pulley powers steering pump?

Also, called the dealership here in Vancouver and pulley cost $160.00 while in the states it is $101.00. Portland dealership out of the three said its discontinued. If so, its going to be real fun to see where I can find one.

Compressor oil volume is 5.5 -6 ounce's imperial or 170.5 ML of oil in the crankcase.
Make a dipstick so you may check the level from one of the "O" ringed bolts on the side.

As with the Pulley , I purchased that last one a few weeks back. 88451-25020 is what i got sent to washington's house.

Is that 10-w-40 motor oil in the york/motorcraft crank case?

Do not understand by "sent to washingtons house" ? Also, where did you get your pulley from?

I have a house in WA and in BC. I bought a Toyota part from a gent I know who works for yota in the states. I checked with the folks here for the correct part # , phoned around with some suggestions of who might have one in Canada. Only one I found , the gent had all the AC bits for a full install, (and me just wanting the pulley would do this gent no help and destroy the complete setup, the other calls were blank) So I went with new , about a month ago I now see on my credit statement .

Now the oil used in that compressor was never carbon based, It was ester based because it was for the R12 freon AC system. Those pistons in there are one ring with a long skirt. the crank base was also under AC pressure or the blow-by but sealed, So thats why you need to be able to check oil(make a dipstick) ..

Any pure synthetic for the oil is what I would use.
