I like most of the above. If you are painting the truck, lose the flares and weld up the holes. I speak from experience, check out "Sunny Belly" roll repair thread. I did it, and it is not that hard. I put the ball end of a ball peen hammer on the hole, then tapped the other end, then ground the hole area. I used duct tape to put bits of metal, (taken from another Toyota) on to the back of the holes. Then I tack welded the metal in place. Grind off, a bit of filler to smooth and...Presto! The sleek look is unique. I like it a lot. I have no flares and no bedliner patch job.
My truck looks smoother, I don't complain about flare damage and my fender openings are slightly larger.
BTW, Valspar makes a paint that you might look up. It is made for tractors and other equipment. It is tough stuff! That is why mine is John Deere green. It really is tractor paint! I picked the color due to the similarity to the color of the 40 that I grew up with. It can be tinted your way. The stuff is as tough as nails. I wash it and do not towel it off. It doesn't get water spots. I let God dry it. It sheds dirt and mud like a cat sheds fur in summer. It falls off! After 2+ years a couple of spots show a bit of dulling. I may need to polish a bit. It has never been waxed, yet it acts like it is highly polished. After painting, I had to sand it with 1200-grit and polish. Since then I have washed it once or twice a year. It always looks good.

Okay, here's the 55 style paint with the mint green from the 40 pictured above. It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but I think certain colors lend themselves to vintage lines a little better.

Brian, you need to include a picture of your rig for this thread. i saw it at the meet and it really caught my eye. The look actually suprised me and how nice it turned out. Even the John Deere green. Good looking rig!

So there are some pretty sweet two-tone 62's as well I have been looking for the color codes. One combo is a metallic light blue/dark blue, another is a creme top with dark blue. Also maybe brown with a creme top? I understand that solids hold up better than metallics...

for reference here is a 62 two tone for sale right now.....
Pretty happy you guys are looking at this been dumping some money into the 80 as of late....figure a paint job is in the near future.:)
