This shows the new bumper and fender from Tim up in Marana. I did a rattlecan paintjob on the passenger fender from the white color it was, to a "sand" color from Home Depot. Doesn't look too bad, considering. Think I'll do the blackout on the headlights and grill, but paint the Toyota logo the same sand color to match the bodywork.

Have a headlight door that arrived today, a new a/c compressor on the way, and just found a radiator leak last night! Yay, sorta. Glad I didn't find it out in Pomerene this weekend.

There was one on 4th or 3rd st for awhile near the university that was beat to hell and missing things off the headlights. Same color too.

Where I got this from

Yup, the PO was my old boss, he had gotten it a few years ago. He lived right down by 4th avenue. Per the gentleman who sold it to him, he had bought it out of Flagstaff and it was damn near cherry. Makes ya cry, don't it?

PO was not a wrencher, and had at least 2 minor accidents that I am aware of. So far I've fumigated the inside, replaced the bashed fender, bumper, headlight door, and used some really good cutting compound/wax that I was asked to test by Doug from Grand Canyon Janitorial. The odor remover they have there is for 6000 sq foot houses, and works amazingly well at getting rid of smokers funk.

Still need to replace the window regulator on the driver side, get a fender vent for the passenger fender I replaced, a passenger side mirror, get a driver side visor and clip, replace the a/c compressor (on its way should be here on the 30th and debate about R-12 vs R-134 conversion), replace the fresh air intake hose, figure out why the carb fan isn't kicking on, and replace the front windshield eventually - pitting and a minor crack. The radiator appears to have some pinhole leak, and the rear of the oil pan seems to have a leak per the original Southern AZ owner. Once that is done, then its back to stock, and I can start looking at anything else.

I was wondering where it went. I live literally around the corner from the house where this sat for the last few years. I kept saying to myself, "Somebody should be loving that thing." Looking forward to seeing it on the trail.

Updates: 2 more photos

After a grill and headlight door blackout, using bedliner spray. Still need the passenger side mirror, and a good bath, but thats about it on the external bits. Not sure if I'm going to continue with the dechroming - the new front and back bumpers will be in black, so no need to do the stock ones - perhaps somebody will need them someday.

Looks good, I have always wanted a 60 series, glad to see this one found a good home..

Tim's a hellava nice guy isn't he..

Looks good. I did the same with my 62 several years ago, and it really changes the look. I did the rest as well.

It's also nice to see another one of these rigs is finally being shown some well deserved attention by her new owner.

Looking good - nothing like a new (to you) truck to tinker with and give some lovin' to. congrats:beer:

Tinkering continues

Changed out the back carpet (PO had oil or something spilled) and used the bedliner on the bumper. New a/c compressor arrived, Brian up in Tempe has some parts I'm hoping to get, and the challenge continues!

Need to have the wife sew some edging on the carpet, but it's a lot better than the ratty dark carpet that was in there.

Unknown vibration - resolution

Amazing what happens when you grease the ujoint and tighten the bolts. Airing the tires up to 40psi also helps wonders.

Had this nasty vibration at about 45 mph. Posted asking for help and Maddbaggins/Alvin told me to come on over. We do a check ride, and he notices it as well. Duck underneath and he mentioned that my ujoint bolts aren't tight. As a matter of fact, they are pretty loose. He wrenches them tight for me, greases the back ujoint (can't seem to get to the front) and we inflate the tires up. Drive home was a day/night experience.

I am now more determined to replace all fluids, tighten everything that can get tightend, and get a very long needle and 30cc syringe and grease everything that needs it.

Since those driveshaft bolts were loose and for who knows how long, you may want to put new u-joints on the list. The reason I couldn't grease the one at the t-case is because it's in the wrong position. It needs to be rotated one position, then the zerk will be accessible.

She's a nice rig!

I wouldn't be worried about the joints from the bolts being loose. My worries would be first, the bolts, were they damaged from the banging? Second, the flanges, are the holes still round and is the face surfaces flat. I would retorque the bolts a couple of times to make sure they aren't working loose.

Howdy! I agree about the bolts and holes. Keep an eye on them. I replaced all 16 bolts, nuts, and locks with OEM a year or two ago. Of course, not in stock, so dealer had to order them!! John
