Hey all, I found a 74 FJ40 and no longer need this one. It's a good project for someone that wants a mostly stock rig or a good starting point for a beast...
1967 FJ40 body and frame and transmission / xfer case.
1978 2F engine with a mix of 2F and 1F accessories. 1978 2F Aisin carb.
When I bought it it had a 2 barrel Holley and a cable throttle and pedal. I still have all that, will be included in sale.
The needs:
It needs some more love. The brakes need to be completely done. No brake master, the lines should be replaced. I do have a master cylinder, no idea on it's condition. I didn't get to that part of the build.
The carb doesn't have the linkage. No gas pedal either.
It has 2 rust areas behind the seats on the rear wheelwells. I have 2 sides of a FJ40 tub for patching these areas.
The cooling system needs to be completed. I have 2 radiators, both aren't great. All the front of the engine stuff is new, and I have all the hoses.
The Haves:
With the help of @JackA there's new spring hangers, new shackles, new bilstein shocks, new 4 Plus u-bolt flip kits. Springs are not new, but in good condition.
Gas tank was boiled cleaned refurbished all good now.
I made a new wiring harness with parts and wiring from @Coolerman all OEM colors connectors etc.
New front and rear lights turn signals etc. Stock headlights and stock bib lights.
I rebuilt the steering center arm.
Speaking of steering, every tie rod end is new, one of the tie rods is new.
The front axle is not original, but it is from a newer drum brake '40.
When I got this rig it had a 60 series front axle under it. I completely disassembled it, so I have all the bits and pieces to convert to front disk brakes. I have all the parts including the housing. Locking hubs, birfs, axles, rotors, calipers, etc. Everything.
Transfer case converted to floor shift. The dash shift parts are long gone.
All new clutch hydraulics.
I have the rear heater, the front heater and fan, crates and crates of misc used parts. The rollbar is not original.
Seats are the same vintage, not the original ones but the same. All new mounting hardware etc.
New parts are OEM Toyota as much as possible. Otherwise sourced from SOR or BTB as necessary.
Lots of other new misc parts: Gas tank cap; gas tank hose from filler to tank; fuel filter; oil pressure and temp senders; new adapter from tank to carb to use readily available fuel line hose. New fuel pump, I have the original. Fuel line all the way to the carb, return blocked. New battery tray. New OEM front turn signals, new OEM rear tail lights. Lots of other things.
Freshly powdercoated Toyota steelies with a set of later model chrome hubcaps.
No battery, no hard top.
I have all the emblems, too.
Clean AZ title, this rig is licensed and registered in my name.
