If CD were sitting here right now, the beer would be on me. I just ordered stock shocks and some other misc parts and he treated this stranger like an old lost friend. I don't know beans about M1 rifles, but CD is first class.
Four months ago I ordered a rear hatch strut from CD after doing everything possible to find an alternative to spending $90 or so american greenbacks for something that shouldn't be that expensive.
An hour ago, the other strut died....sigh....
In a frenzy of southern engineering, probably referred to in less generous terms in other parts of the planet, I stopped by Discount Auto on the way home and picked up a suitably sized strut for $16.97.
After removing the OEM strut, I ground the two of the bolt heads to accept the interface on the new strut...sorta...and voila, It ain't pretty but it works very well.
