Hi All,

I purchased a 2009 GX with 145,000 miles on it in August. Been going over all preventive maintenance items. I was told by a specialist at LexusPartsNow.com that my 2009 GX470 does not have a PCV valve. When I search for the PCV on Amazon, I find part number 12204-50030 but Amazon tells me it does not fit my year vehicle. Yet today I when I was replacing the two insulated ventilation hoses that connect to the valve covers, low-and-behold, there's a PCV valve with part number 12204-50030 on the driver's side valve cover. What's the deal? Do 2009 GX470's have PCV valves or not? Did the prior owner simply install a PCV valve when none is needed? If the 2009 doesn't have a PCV valve, what part goes into the driver's side valve cover?

I was told the same thing, that it doesn’t exist. I don’t remember ever verifying it though. The parts diagram only shows a PCV valve for 2003-2004 models.

Do you have a pic?

My 2007 GX absolutely does have one, on the driver's side valve cover. I replaced it for around $10 shipped on eBay. Ordered the part from a Toyota dealer for a 2007 4Runner.

A quick search from McGeorge Toyota shows the same part for a 2009 4Runner 4.7 V8 (with the part applying to 03-09 4Runners):

I would say that yes you have one - every internal combustion vehicle I've ever owned has had a PCV valve. It's good practice to replace one every 50-100K. If they clog your engine will burn a ton of oil.

I can confirm the existence of a PCV valve on my 07 as well. It goes from the driver side valve cover along a short length of tube to the front of the intake manifold. I have a lot of blow by near that area making me think the tube is not sealing well or I have a manifold gasket going out.

Here's the pic. either this is the correct part and LexusPartsNow.com and Amazon are wrong or a prior owner had this installed by mistake.

I totally agree with you. I'm probably going to replace the current one just because I don't know how old it is. Thanks!

I'm replacing all old hoses and tubing. Some are flayed at the ends, others are hard like a rock. All together it probably results in poor performance.
