Well, I hate to ask but just wanted confirmation. I am replacing my EGR pipe and just wanted to make sure it is fine to use PB Blaster on the big nut by the EGR Cooler and on the nuts and studs at the exhaust manifold. I only ask because I have read that it gets to 1200 degrees and I didn't want any residual PB to cause any ill effects. Also if anyone has any more hints to getting the pipe off, I'd appreciate any. I guess I need to remove the EGR cooler. I can't get my wrench in to move the big nut.

It's much easier to remove the pipe if you unbolt at the flange\manifold and remove the cooler and flexpipe all as one unit. It's a PITA to get it all back in......I ended up having to use locking pliers and do like 10 degrees at a time to tighten the giant pipe\cooler nut back up because you have to wait untill everything's all back where it's supposed to be before you tighten that connection......blegh.....glad I'm about to go Vortec!

Don't worry about residue from the blaster, it will evaporate. Sounds like a good idea to remove the cooler. I don't think that you'll get that big nut off in the truck.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I've read that. It sounds like the way to go. Unfortunately, I don't have any way of cutting a wrench in half. Do you have an idea of who to call? Not sure where to look in the yellow pages for some one to do that. I have a feeling it might take a long time with a hack saw. :)
