The titl;e says it-my tail lights are pathetic. The truck is a 84 HJ60. All the contacts are clean, there is no rust on the light assemblies, I already put in expensive LED bulbs...
The lights are really dim, and when the brake is hit one can barely notice them getting brighter. Everything works as it should, they are just pathetically dim.
The alternator is fine too.
Anything I can do easily?
The front lights sucked too, but that was easily fixed with the ARB relays and wiring harness.
Can I fix anything short of putting in a new wiring harness?

thanks

I would do away with the LED bulbs and give high-quality halogen ones a try.

I'm assuming that the lenses themselves are cleean...

When I swapped my 80's tail lights to LED's (from halogen) and when comparing the brake lights (LED's) to the back-up lights (halogen) when backing up I notice a HUGE difference in the light output between them. The halogen wins hands-down (Maybe the back-up bulbs are higher wattage than the brake light bulbs...)

ANYWAY, just to be on the safe side with the light output and the quality/durability, I would stay with a name brand company.

GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, the lenses are clean and new.
I will get nice halogens and try that, thank you!

I'm assuming you have a good ground too.? I have the led on my 40 and like everyone has stated they are a bit dimmer than the halo's but mine are bright.....just not as bright as the Halo's
Good luck to you.
