Anyone use it? I had one of the Hunter Engineering guys at my shop the other day and asked him who in town has one of their balancing machines, after explaining that i run 37" tires and how huge of a difference a good balance makes he suggested patch balancing, the only thing that concerns me is when rock crawling with low tire pressures i could very easily see the patches becoming dislodged and counter productive, i wouldn't mind droping $100 for an accurate balance as long as it lasts a while, Brad.

Equal or Counteract your tires.
No need to rebalance or worry about things falling off.

Used the Equal on 33x12.5 MTRs under a K5. Worked pretty good. It isn't superior to lead weights as far as vibration goes but, it doesn't fall off either. Make sure no moisture gets in the tire from your air source. It messes up the Equal powder.

I think Cooper tires once came from the factory "patch" balanced... sounds like the best way to me... I don't see a problem with the patch peeling if proper prep is used - good cleaning and scuff up along with vulcanizing glue.

I had MTRs mounted by a specialist suspension shop. They were glad to offer patch balancing but shared in their experience that running super low tire pressure while rock crawling that the extreme tire flexing could result in a patch coming loose. Then the drawback is that you have to dismount the tire from the rim in order to rebalance.

To the best of my recollection they were only considering patch balancing in the event that any of the MTRs were to require an excessive amount of wheel weight, which turned out to not be an issue.

I had patch on my trail tires. seemed like after every wheeling trip i was minus a few. oh well, they are swampers so having them balanced was a stupid idea anyway.

Anyone try the Centramic balancers?
I wonder if they'd work for a 35+ inch mud tire?

DO they make them for the 80?
If so, the cost iof them is very$$$$. You can do alot of machine balancing or Equal/Counterace with that $$$.

The Centramics are $200 for a set of four. The local tire guy wanted $40 a tire to Balance my tires with Equal. Net difference is $40. Plus you can use the Centramics on multiple sets of tires and they'll continue to work if you lose a bead and reseat a tire on the trail.

Anyone tried golf balls?

I asked the Hunter guy about the golf ball idea, he just laughed and didn't think i was serious, plus the other disadvantage would be tht once you got some nice chunkage from rocks the patch would be totally worthless, Brad.
