Just thought I would post a few parts fiascos that I have went through in my rookie year as a Cruiser owner. Maybe I can save some other newbies a couple headaches and lost Cruiser time.

Fuel Pump: If you get one, make sure it comes with the little spacer/gasket that goes between it and the block. Lost a weekend waiting for it to come in.

Coolant Temp sensor: Napa has 2 in the computer. The cheaper one is the correct one for the gauge.

Ignition Switch: The one NAPA says fits, wasn't the right one for a 60. Cruiserparts fixed me up with one cheap.

I can add to this list:

K&N Air Filter - not that big of a deal

Emissions system - best to get the book and do it yourself. even the dealership gets that stuff WRONG

Power Steering Pump - if the PO says it's been replaced, bet that it was a poorly done reman. A used one from cruiserparts.net will outlast a reman any day.

Tires - good ones are worth their weight in gold

Carb cooling fan - kind of a weird/afterthought/dumb/unusual idea, but it had better work, or you're in for it.

Shackles - The rear shackles are longer than the fronts. Some places offer a set of front and rear lift shackles that are the same height. You'll get a lift but unless the rear shackles are longer, the typical Cruiser rear sagging gets exagerated.

some OEM fuel pumps(I think OEM) and almost all aftermarket needs longer bolts, always order the new bolts.

very happy with the Carter aftermarket fuel pumps, 1/2 the price of OEM and it is OEM Koysen(sp) brand..........just like OEM.......but not in a Toyota box.
