Anyone know of a good parts supplier for FZ parts in Canada? I called the nearest Stealership yesterday, and they quoted me $207!!!!! for a Transmission Filter!! WTF.
I laughed and didn't even bother to ask for the rest of my list....

Also, anyone know of a good mechanic in the Southern Ontario area, for my diesel and my FZ?

I live near the border and buy everypart out of the states and have it mailed to a mailbox across the border. Toyota usa is always 1/3 the canadian price for the same part.

American Toyota in Albuquerque.
Its worth the drive to a UPS depot just across the border to pick up the parts and occasionally, a drive to Albuquerque works too.
Canadians get ripped off by TOYOTA because as my local TOYOTA dealer told me when I asked why a head bolt was $22 here and $11 in the US; each of them coming to North America from Japan through the LA distribution center, I was told that TOYOTA can get away with it because Canadians are "stupid enough to pay" the higher price. Sad but true.

i refuse to deal with Canadian stealerships, i deal with Dan out of New Mexico ... better known as Cdan on Mud.
parts have turned out to be half to 2/3rds cheaper ... of course it makes sense to order larger quanities when doing so.

when i was in Alberta i dealt with Dave at Stampede Toyota and he gave me very decent pricing. I moved here and at first the fawking dealership in Owen Sound wouldn't order the parts even when i gave them the part numbers since it was imports i was working on. Now they will sell to me but the prices are ... well ... insulting.

I guess I will be ordering from Cdan, shipping to my OutLaws house in Rhode Island and picking up from there.....

Like so many things. Why is it that Skidoo, Seadoo and BRP ATVs all made in Canada are cheaper to buy in the in the U.S? Because they can, and we keep paying for them.

Thanks for the input guys.

I also buy items in the States and have them shipped to a receiving warehouse in Niagara Falls NY.
Check out cbiusa.com, they are just over the rainbow bridge.
Recently used the greyhound bus depot in Niagara Falls for a set of running boards, grey hound was the cheapest shipping I could find.

Skiater.

try pricing 1 birf from toyota canada. a $500 difference from Cdan !! I always carry a rape whistle when I have to buy at Canadian dealership.

Luckily I'm only just over an hour to Ogdensburg NY. My brother-in-law and I go there almost on a monthly basis to pick up stuff ordered in the states. Savings are typically in the 30-50% range, and a lot of the time the stuff I'm looking for just isn't avail directly in Canada. The local Toyota/ Lexus dealership has been giving me discounts on parts for years, but next time I'll do a comparison with CDan.

The first time I tried to order a part for my JDM through the dealership here in Winnipeg, they refused as soon as I told them it was an import. I gave them the part number and they kept asking for year and model. "Oh, that's an import. We won't order parts for that."

The one and only time I actually got anything through the dealer was for a part that's common between NA and JDMs. I told them it was a 1994 FJ80 just so I could get the part. I also parked way down the lot so they wouldn't see me.

Even non-dealer mechanics will shun you when you come in with a JDM. They refuse to do anything on them due to difficulty finding the parts. I do my own work, but for anything I can't do (due to weather normally), I always bring the parts in with the truck.

For fuel and oil filters, I buy them across the border for about 1/3 the price as you'd pay here in Canada - assuming they would even order them here.

When I was looking for a Nissan Safari, I read that Nissan dealers would order any part number and have it shipped in on their dime. I didn't find the right Safari, and ended up getting a Cruiser, so I was never able to confirm. Maybe Canucksafari could confirm or deny.

Not many Safaris or Terranos, but lots of Skylines and Fairlady Zs here.

Are the hand throttles available for purchase in Canada?

I'm pretty sure those were a non-NA option. You could try the JDM dealers in Canada, look for a wrecked JDM that's being parted out, try to order with the part number from CDAN, try to order from MOT, or look on eBay Australia (where I order most of my parts).

Here's the diagram and part numbers:

Look up "Mobile parts" in Sudbury Ontario Canada. They deal with LC's used in the mining industry and have been able to get me all the parts I have needed.

If you need more info let me know.

Cool site. What is interesting is that they strip down the LC's they get and create custom mine vehicles.

That leads me to believe that they might be very interested in selling the stock parts they take off their rigs. If that's the case, that would be a very good resource for 7x series parts.

stock parts for sale, yes.

but not cheap, last time i checked they wanted $9K for a NTO front and rear axle hub to hub. that was the only time i bothered with them.

ENS is another place you can get parts from.
Japan 4X4 is another excellent source.
G&S has a few parts.
Radd Cruisers is another excellent source.
