Part 3 of something I've been workin' on (snorkel)

So the snorkel was sort of all good to go. The only 3" to 3" adapter I could originally find, was an adapter that attached over the outer diameter of the adjoining hoses. It's really intended for use with harder hose or pipe. So when I tighten the hose clamps, all it pretty much does is squish all the hoses... So I've been on the lookout for something to remedy it with. I was thinking just add some pvc or something to the inside so I went back to Home Depot and was lookin' around. I couldn't find crap. Then all of a sudden I found exactly what I was originally lookin' for. A 3" to 3" hose adapter that was solid (plasitc) and attached to the insides of the hoses. Sweet. Only like a $1.50 too. I beleive it is used to connect 3" rain gutter drain hoses. Anyway, forget that other thing I had. This was the ticket. I had to cut about a 1/2" off the side that attached to the hose that came with the snorkel as the inner necked down a bit at the flex area. No problem though cause the thing already had a sweet notch cut all the way around it at just the right spot. Anyway, here's some more pics of it finally all done. (P.S. still don't have that damn battery adapter for the hold down...but I should be able to pick it up tomorrow).

Sweet Ferg..Always dug your rig...Now let see some test runs with it hooked up . If I can get water up to my headlights with out a snorkel we should see pic of it up to the windshield

May I suggest a few $$$ spent to buy/make a battery clamp?? I mean the snorkel mod is great, but it'll make little difference if the bat moves and welds itself inside the engine bay

That connector you found is for 3" plastic drain pipe, like you would use in landscaping or for a septic tank field. It's black, thin walled, corrugated plastic pipe. Just thought I'd include that for anyone who might be looking for the same connector - just look for that big black plastic corrugated pipe and you'll find those connectors nearby.

question: do all snorkles hook up on that side. my intake is on the otherside of the engine?

As for the battery hold down, you forgot to read the last sentence I wrote in my first post of this thread...

Al: Yup. All the Safari snorkels for 60s/62s anyway (Does any other company actually even make them for 60s/62s....?) The thing is, the company that makes the snorkels, Safari, is in Oz, and in Oz, 60 series air intakes are on that side (right hand side). I think it's only the North American gasser 60s that are switched up (on the left hand side). Sucks. My shiyat is de-smogged so I didn't have to worry about making much else hook up correctly besides the air intake. If your 60 is smogged, then you either have to run a really long hose all over the engine bay (a guy in our club just did it, but I haven't seen it yet) or do the same mod as I did and then extend all sorts of vacuum hose and such all over the engine bay... Which means, it's pretty much not worth getting a snorkel on your 60 if you're not desmogged... Now a 62 on the other hand is still good to go cause it's intake is on the RH side.
