Yes, a short.
All the lamps you listed are part of the "tail" fuse circuit.
Somehow, voltage directly from the battery is now present on this circuit, downstream of the fuse.

That relay that you pulled, was it in a socket? If so, was it intact?
Did you get a good look at all the aftermarket wiring?
Despite what you disconnected, some elements of it are probably remaining.

Also, the "light retainer" relay is upstream of the "tail" fuse/lamp circuit.

I really dont know what could be remaining.
The relay was the fog lamp relay. It seemed to be intact.
All of the aftermarket wiring looks good from what I can see.

What do you mean by the light retainer relay? Please excuse my ignorance :frown:

The light retainer relay is what keeps the headlights on after turning the car off (untill you open the door.)
If this were the problem, it would go away when you pulled the tail fuse.

Sorry, but I must sign-off for now, I think you have enough information now to track it down.

Remember: Battery voltage on the "tail" fuse circuit, that's where you need to concentrate your effort.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help!

Does anybody have a link to a wiring diagram for the tail fuse circuit by chance?

I had a problem like this when water leaked under the dash and side panel (from the windshield) on my Tundra getting some electrics wet. Could you have a leak anywhere?

I really wouldn't think so, but I also have no idea so I rule out the possibility.

Does anyone know the location of the tail fuse circuit relay?

Also would pulling all the fuses and replacing them one by one help try to locate the possible issue?

Hi again, still at it?
That relay is behind the left kick panel, but since that is before the fuse, that is not the problem. You have to look for something that is feeding that circuit after the fuse.

I can try to help you in more detail later. I'll be busy with work today, but I'll check in.

Yep, still at it. I found a 1996 80 series wiring manual on this site so I down loaded it. That will give me something to use. I am going to mess around with it more on my lunch. I will report any changes. Thanks again for your help landcrshr.

Also I noticed your in the bay area. Are you a Sharks fan?

I have attached the wiring diagram of where I think my problem may lie.

I believe I have fixed it.

Some wire coming off the positive battery terminal with a 15a fuse. Pulled the fuse lights go out. Put back in lights are on. Its not stock. Wire runs under the body. Thinking its trailer wiring. Will trace at a warmer date.

Somehow that wire is plumbed into the tail fuse circuit though.

Good job, probably a shorted harness.

Nope, not a Sharks fan, but I think the fans are happy they're playing again
