After reading all the brake failure threads, I figured I better revive my e-brake so that I can use it when/if I need it. I followed the FSM and a few threads on here, and was able to get the brakes adjusted. However, the problem I ran into is that I have slack in the brake lever (probably due to the 21 year old cable having stretched out slightly. The turnbuckle attached to the rear diff would normally be used to take that slack up, as I understand. However, that turnbuckle is corroded and trying to spin it on the 6mm threaded rod makes that whole rod twist and I don't want to snap it.

Now, I know on my GX, there is a convenient little nut I can turn by the e-brake handle that takes up the slack. Is there such a nut on the LX? Or is my only option now to buy the turnbuckle and cable assembly if I want to have 0 play in the handle?

Any way to tighten the cable other than to replace the rusted turnbuckle at the rear diff?

Thanks. I did run through the FSM - that's how I was able to get the shoes adjusted. Just having an issue with taking up slack in the cable itself that goes between the parking brake lever handle and the gizmo at the rear diff.
