Park Assist and Cameras Not Working (2 Viewers)

2013 200- Green light on Parking button to the left of the steering wheel does not come on any longer and no cameras work at all including the view button. I've pushed the Parking button and held it on but the green light does not come on. The reverse camera doesn't come on at all, gps map stays on. No parking sensors work. I've taken it to a local dealer who charged me $180. They took the rear camera apart and said it was receiving a feed. They suggested we "start with" replacing the rear camera. With nothing else working I have a hard time believing that will fix the issue. I also took it to a local mechanic that owns a 100 and works on many LC's and he wasn't able to provide a diagnosis either. There doesn't appear to be a fuse for this issue. I have searched through threads and didn't find anything relevant. I did see someone suggest checking the gray input wire under the glove box for a different camera issue but I've tried that with no result. Sometime prior to this issue I had one of my key fobs stolen so I took it to the dealer and they provided a new one and reprogrammed the car/other key fob. I brought this up to the dealer but they said it wouldn't have anything to do with this camera issue. Any help is appreciated! I'm considering buying a new rear camera and having the local mechanic give it a whirl.

I also have a hard time believing a new camera will fix the issue but I do believe the replacement fob is not the cause. Sometimes these electrical gremlins are caused by corroded connectors. Is the windshield original and are the sunroof drains working properly? If no to either question you might want to check for moisture under the front door sills where there are lots of wiring. There are many threads on here about how to do that. If the sensors and cameras were working and suddenly stopped working for no reason, a bad connector is a possibility.

I have my front camera unplugged and the only indication on the vehicle itself is the relevant screen is solid black. Everything else works fine.

Based on that, and gut impression, a new camera will not fix this issue.

Thanks. I’ll check those items. I haven’t replaced the windshield but not sure if that happened prior to my ownership. I did have a tree limb fall on my hood which caused the hood to be replaced along with other repairs. They may have had to remove the windshield during that repair.

Likely a fuse. The fuses under the dash driver side.. check them all, as there are a few with generic name. They are also not all labeled correctly.

It could be, but what would cause a fuse to blow in an OEM system that was working fine?

Thanks. I’ll check those items. I haven’t replaced the windshield but not sure if that happened prior to my ownership. I did have a tree limb fall on my hood which caused the hood to be replaced along with other repairs. They may have had to remove the windshield during that repair.

Interesting info. If there was damage to the cowling or lower windshield seal, or if those were replaced, water ingress could be a problem.

Unfortunately, no. I gave the above info to my mechanic who works on a lot of cruisers and he wasn't able to figure it out. He did have a camera laying around so he swapped them out and it didn't work either. So at least I know I don't need to spend the money on that. His suggestion was to take it to a different dealer that he has worked with and let them try to diagnose it. I haven't bothered with that yet.
I did have a clogged sunroof on a completely different vehicle that caused a litany of electrical problems.

This sounds like full system failure of the PDC system. I'd start with the PDC ECU (example link). Verifying its getting power and then if it's blown. I suspect if you had Techstream and the PDC ECU has power, you can probably connect to it and see what is wrong with it. If it doesn't have power, then Techstream would probably fail to connect to it. I know some ECUs will basically stop controlling the system when some aspect of the system is failed. There will be a stored DTC for whatever is failed. This is what happened to my seat heater ECU. One of the sensors got disconnected and the seat heater switch stopped doing anything and Techstream revealed a stored DTC in that ECU. Once I fixed the sensor issue it all started working again.

I've never troubleshot this system before, but that's where I'd start.

Hi - I’m encountering a similar issue with a seeming total loss of camera and parking sensor function in my 2013 LC.

Up until a few days ago cameras and parking sensors are working fine, now suddenly they are not working at all. When I put the car in reverse nothing happens on the main screen; reverse camera won’t appear and the screen just stays where I’m currently on (climate screen, audio screen, etc.). Additionally, if I press the camera button while in park or drive, again nothing appears on the main screen. Finally, parking sensors are no longer working and if I press the parking sensor button it doesn’t respond or light up.

I went to the diagnostic screen and saw that it says “NCON” for Camera-C (assuming this means not connected?). Additionally, it was throwing a code for “B15D8”, which a quick online search said that this is for a disconnected monitor and a possible causes of that could be a faulty parking assist ecu.

I read on the forum in a separate thread to check the connections to the parking assist ecu under the glovebox, but all connections appear to be good.

Any advice on what else that I should take a look at before I take it in to my dealer for a look?

How did you check connections?
Visual, tug?
When I had this issue disconnecting and reconnecting solved it.
If you did not disconnect and reconnect I would try that.

For something like this I always first try disconnecting both leads to the battery and leaving it disconnected for a half hour or so and then hook it back up. Sometimes you get lucky.

After that, Id do what the previous poster said and unplug, inspect, and plug back in all connections to the system.

Initially for the connections I did try disconnecting and reconnecting the parking assist ecu, but no impact.

I then went and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, reconnected the battery, and then unplugged and reconnected the connections to the parking assist ecu, but again no change.

FWIW, I’ve checked pretty much every single other switch, button, function in the car to make sure there aren’t electrical gremlins popping up elsewhere, but everything else is working fine. So seems like this is just localized to the parking sensors / camera / parking assist ecu .

I scheduled time next week with toyota to have a look at it, will post back with what they find.

Mine did this. When I was able to get into the front camera and side one. I hit the button on the bottom left that turns them both automatically on under 5mph. I dont like that feature, but its kept everything working lol

Sharing back an update on the above mentioned camera and parking sensors issues I was having.

After 3 days of troubleshooting at my local Toyota, turns out it was a total failure of the parking assist ECU. No other electrical issues, just isolated to the parking assist ecu under the glovebox. Fortunately, I still have about a year left on my warranty, so the ~$2.5k to replace and install the new ecu was fully covered. Seems odd to me for it to fail so abruptly with no apparent cause.
