I have to put the pan back on the a340f trans on my 2000 4runner and the FSM torque setting of 65inch lbs. for the 19 bolts is for the FIPG (atv).
I do have on hand here a ATP trans pan gasket and on the box it says 100-120inch lbs. for the bolts.

What to do? Which setting, 65 or 100in lbs?

Go with the FSM and if it does star leaking just tighten them more. But it probably won't leak

Hmm, the Felpro TOS18685 just arrived and it seems a lot nicer than the ATP one... Maybe the way to go? FIPG just seems like a gamble, have to apply it perfectly and get it up and installed before 10 minutes..
I think the Felpro one is the candidate today..

I have had zero issue using the fipg, but have had leaks with the cork style gasket.

I order the gasket gasket from my local o Reilly auto an it was a rubber one. No issues with it so far. Have has it in for about 3 weeks and jar driven on the highway and even went mudding.

I will caution you on using a gasket on a surface that calls for FIPG. The torque specs are only for using FIPG, if you torque to that using the gasket you will likely deform the pan lip making the return to FIPG use nearly impossible. Ask me how I know....

As far as which numbers to use, I can't say because I used the FSM specs on my oil pan on a 22RE (like 7 ft-lbs IIRC) with a cork gasket and bent the wee out of the lip. Is the pan aluminum or stamped steel? That will make a difference.

It is a steel pan.. I went with the Felpro gasket, it was very meaty/solid and came flat and not bent in a small box. Used the factory specs and it seals very nicely.
I think I have a winner...
