you guys are always trying to take the cheap way out it seams to me but with the same amount of work or a little more and a couple of dollars more you could end up with a nicer paint job well worth it. my motto do it right the first time. it always costs more later when you redo it. the time you spent and material then you have to do it again twice the work and money

I try to find a nice middle ground. I have used ACE before, but now I am more educated on paints. I realize that ACE is super for a trail rig etc.

But, I still want to save $$ when it comes to paint. So, I took a class on paint / body and learned some great tips n tricks. Number one most important thing is your prep, has been, and always will be the key to a nice paint job. The gun you shoot with is number two.

PPG makes a nice paint called alk-200. Its been discussed on here before. They also make a urethane version that's about 40% more $$. Those are the two paints I am sticking with from here on out.

So in the end, if I can get a quality paint job for under $300.00 that includes primers etc, I think I am coming out WAY on top.

Who are "you guys"? I see just as many, if not more, quality paint jobs on this site. Let's be more specific.

ok i will i read about some guys that sand do body work take their time make it nice then use brushes or ace hardware to paint what a waste of time or using rattle cans. if thats what they are doing why waste the time to sand ????????????????????

Not everyboy chooses to send alot of time or $ on a rig they are going to bash in the rocks.......its their rig they can do what they want. One paint job does not make anybody a expert.
