Chuck did they do any bodywork or rust repair.

I am also looking for a paint job and minor body work on my 62 in Houston.

I asked the well known cruiser wrench Javier Iberra and he said to do the prep work myself because most body places will slap paint on as fast as possible, including directly over rust.

I have a bit of rust on the liftgate at the bottom left corner of the window. Javier said to remove the glass and sand it down myself. I do not have a lot of time and zero body experience so I am looking for someone who will do it right.

I also have a used FJ60 right front fender to replace my slightly damaged 62 fender but it is brown and my truck is two tone grey and blue. I would like to have it primered with the same color as the inside of the other body panels.

In other words I am looking for a level of detail that most body shops will ignore. I want to clear out the old silicone from the rain gutters and replace it with new and I want to fill in the holes left from the snake blinders.

I might float a call to your guy and ask him about these issues. I am having the whole truck repainted and want it perfect.

Sorry for the highjack but perhaps it will help.

David,

Give me a call - Iam sure my brother can reccomend a type of paint shop you are looking for. He is into retoring classic cars, Iam sure he knows a good paint shop. :)

Alert! Alert! NEVER say "I want it perfect" to a body shop....your estimate will start AUTOMATICALLY at $4000.00 and go up...remember that doofus who wanted to buy the 62 with the "$9,800.00" paint job? That's where you're headed with that comment....

Zip,

I'm pretty sure they do, as they do lots of classic restoration jobs (as I saw at their shop).

Just give Jaime a call, he's a really good guy. Make sure he's at the shop and schedule to bring your vehicle there for a written quote.

Good luck,

Chuck

60 and 62 fenders are different.

Zip,

I may have misunderstood your question, but if you're asking me if they did bodywork on my truck, then the answer was yes. No rust work, however. Some doofus backed into my passenger side quarter panel above the gas filler door. I was parked and they ran off, of course. Luckily the damage was only on the metal between that and below the side glass. We agreed not to use any bondo, and they basically removed the inside panels and straightened the panel perfectly. No one would know that there was any repaint on the panel until you realize that the "Unleaded Fuel Only" sticker is no longer there. I meant to get a replacement sticker, but never got around to it.

Anyways, give him a call.
