Starting my body work on the FJ40 and would like to know the pros/cons between Tremclad and Rustoleum. I'm looking at a roll on vs rattle can or spray gun.

one is Canadian(tremclad), and one is American (Rustoleum), where do you live?

Post lots of pics of your results!

If you thin rustoleum you can spray it with either a conventional or HVLP spray gun, both my cruisers are sprayed with tremclad.

Basically, if you thin it down enough it will spray pretty much like any other paint, and will give you a good near gloss look, with alittle wetsanding and polishing a nice gloss can be acheived.

If you do a quick search under my user name you can see the 2 trucks and 1 mercedes that I have painted with tremclad. Personally i love the finish and the look but its not everyones cup of tea.

The roll on method is more labour intensive and takes more time. It is a bit less user friendly.

All the tremclad jobs I have done have used mixed paints, the blue was blue, black and aluminium, the green was green, black and aluminium, and the brown was just brown and aluminium.

If you want a solid colour tremclad works even better than the mixed ones that I did.
