i got a new license plate for the Battle Cruiser and there are scratches where the plate rubbed on the paint.

So to prevent that from happening any more I put strips of felt on the back of the license plate.

Where is the best place to find paint pens?

Dealers will have paint pens, and most auto parts stores will carry Toyota colors.

For your mod/fix, I'd go with material that doesn't absorb and hold moisture. Especially where the paint has already scratched off.

i highly second this. Try some 3m pads. They're rubber/nylon , with a smaller surface area that wont' hold moisture.

1-I can't get to a dealer to buy a paint pen, they close before I get out of work.
2-thank you for the 3M pads idea, I had thought about the felt holding moisture but figured it would dry fairly quick.
3-I will check with Autozone for the paint pen.

The genuine Toyota pens are on Amazon for $10 too.

A higher quality repair of your scratches would be to use the DR. Colorchip kit. They're no where near as cheap as the paint pen, but the results are incomparable if you take your time and have some attention to detail.

I've have no idea the actual name for the color of my truck.
How do I find that out? VIN color code search?

@Spike555 You will find the color on the VIN sticker. Here's an example of a Land Cruiser's VIN sticker and the area marked as "D" is what you are looking for. "C/TR" is your color & trim code, so you will look for whatever code is where the "056" is on the pic. Once you know that code you can order an exact paint match from many different places. From that first pic I'm thinking galactic grey mica(1E9)..?
