Sounds like the same color my 60 is, though mine is rattlecanned. A trip through some brush in the desert revealed the factory brown underneath. Anyways, any paint shop should be able to get you factory color paint. As to what there was, I can't help there.
A friend rhinolined (well, he used morton's) on his XJ, and another friend did the same on his xtra cab mini. I'm watching the mini to see how it holds up because I like the texture of the newer stuff than the stuff that went on the XJ (and it's less toxic so easier to deal with during application). So far, it's just got one trip to red lake on it, which wasn't enough to see how well the paint holds up. He got a lot of compliments on the trail, which is a lot more than I can say for my poor rig.
Really depends on what you want. Nothing looks nicer than a nice cruiser with a good paint job. There is no question that bedliner material is harder than most paint, though there is paint available (like my black XJ has) which is incredibly tough and isn't succeptible to brush damage. Of course, I can't get that paint anymore in california.
