Paint code?

I looked once Todd for front bumper painting. I THINK (at my age I forget quickly) it was under the hood? Sorry if I'm wrong.

Well, that's the only place I found any numbers. But to discern which number is the paint code is the problem. Nothing there like, Paint Code: 2536jd73.

Nothing under the hood that I found. I figured it would be there, up on the fire wall.

the paint codes are typically 3 digits, like 062 or 6T4, something like that. it will probably be followed by a slash "/" and either 2 or 4 digits, which denotes the interior code

what's the general color of the vehicle in question?

Dark blue.

Thanks, I'll see if there's anything like that at lunch.

Here's what I want to touch up (after I buff the surface rust off). My wife has no idea how this happened, looks like it's been there for a while though. Thoughts on what might have caused this (besides blonde at the wheel)?

(Sorry about the Jeep reflection, not mine.)

Did I not have touch up paint in the vehicle when I sold it to you? I could have sworn I did and I thought it was Toyota oe. Might want to check there for a code or specific color. As well, I am pretty sure that nothing else in the Toyota line had that color for 1999. So, the color library should have it as well.

There's a bottle of non-OEM, dried up paint in the glove box. Actually it's in the trash now. And the asshat at the dealer won't order the paint without the code. Hate that guy. Where's the color library?

Looking at my notes from a long-ago online lesson on decripting the plate on the door jam, the color code and trim are on the line right under the VIN. My notes show the first two sequences on that line to be:

C/TR 6Q7/LA40

C is Color and TR is Trim
the 6Q7 is code for Ashdown Green.

Can you get in behind the dent on the A-Pillar to try to 'push' it out?

If so, I'd take it to one of the paintless dent removal places to see what they can do.

I have no idea what could cause something like that, other than someone throwing something at your car.

The dent looks like you might have hit a low-hanging branch. Probably lucky it didn't crach the windshield.

Well, my wife is a blonde, and she readily admits to having blonde moments, but she says (and I believe it), she would have noticed this. I suspect a tree limb. She parks in a garage at home but not at work. Lots of hardwoods, lots of wind. Still, looks like it was going more E/W than N/S. Vandalism maybe.

She's off to the body shop this afternoon to get an estimate. Having worked on dents on my 55, I speak from experience in saying that pulling dents out of Land Cruiser sheet metal is no easy task, and I think the placement of this one argues against it. Screw it up and we'll have water coming in the windshield.

Thanks for the paint code, John.

$269.40 to have it fixed properly at a body shop. I love it when the solution is obvious.
