I got a 308 code, accompanied as it has been when I got a 30# code in the past, with VST and VSC lights coming on too. I swapped out the ignition coil on the number 8 cylinder (rearmost, passenger side) and the error code went away. Test drove and I get the check engine light and same code intermittently. Spark plug lead looked okay, though I didn't inspect it too closely, assuming the trouble was the ignition coil pack. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You need to test or swap spark plugs next. Many China made bootlegs have made there way into our markets. They will fail without a doubt. Inspect wires closely as you do.

BTW: Best if you add a signture line with your year, miles and build if any. Or add in body of every post for help!

Thanks, 2001LC. I'll put a new plug in tomorrow. If it's not that or the wires, I guess it could be a faulty new coil pack, in which case I'll swap a couple around to see.

Did you swap in a questionable coil to #8, or swap with one from your engine not showing a code?

Again: It is best if you disclosing: yr, make, miles, build if any, condition, history, rust bucket $500 special or a cream puff. Baseline or held together with bailing wire.

Warning:
Don't buy cheap junk or you'll chases your tail. It's important to use only quality parts. Typically bought from Toyota, you can be 99% assured it's good.

It is an '01 LX470 with nearly 300K miles. It has seen a lot of hard duty. HARD duty.

It turned out to be the plug. Put a new one in and that was that. I'll order a new set of plugs and coils today and just replace the lot of them.

Use care from whom you buy. So much junk boot leg in the market.
