2000 LX470 Driver's side, post cat O2 sensor...does M8x1.25 sound correct? Is there a gasket?

I was on the highway this afternoon, and all of a sudden it sounded like I got a hole in my exhaust above the muffler. When I got home I looked, and the O2 sensor was hanging there. The threads seem to by fine, so I just want to grab some nuts and put it back in.

Interestingly enough, no check engine light came on even thought the sensor was out.

Thanks

I've still been searching and found a few threads here on the 80 series board that says M8x1.25 and most Toyota boards out there on the web say the same thing. I'm gonna go with that.

Updated for anyone who finds this while doing a web search.

The threads are M8x1.25. I went out this morning when it got light and crawled under to check.

I ran a die down the studs to clean up the threads then went to NAPA and got a gasket, new nuts, lock washers, and red Loctite.

The part number for the gasket is 31564 and it cost $2.29. It's just a universal one, not vehicle specific. He found a part number for Toyota, but it had been discontinued.

The most difficult part was scraping the pieces of the old gasket off while on my back. I have a lift, but it's currently occupied by my project truck which has the whole front end removed.

Total cost for everything was $14.44.

Now I can go to work.

I did.

I put the one that came out back in.

The sensor itself does not screw in. It has a flange with holes on each side that go over the studs on the pipe. The original nuts that threaded in the studs rusted away. I replaced them.

Holy shoot....I am getting our 96 LC ready for my youngest and the same thing happened....except with both exhaust sensors.

I have no idea how long they have been out, but using the above info, I am heading to NAPA today for two sets.

I couldn't believe it when I saw them hanging there....I wonder why we don't throw any codes?

Thanks for the thread!

I had my 02 sensor blow off my LX today, sunday at 5pm. Only place open was autozone and they had nothing listed as compatible . The nice guy at the desk let me browse through their folders of gaskets and I found this exact fit. Got me back on the road again, but I did use a generous about of anti seize on the new stainless nuts for when this fails. Same exact thing happened to my 80 last year, much easier 02 sensor access on the 80.
