The buzz word is not expeditioning its overlanding for EXPO

The phrase Expedition travel started in 1972 with Gary and Monika Wescott with the Turtle Expedition when did you start?
By those old standards, overlanding is when you are away from home base for weeks, months, years. :idea:Like an expedition. What most folks do is CAMP for a few days at a time and then go home. Overlanding and expeditioning? are marketing terms to make the buyers think they are doing something bigger and better than CAMPING. It does sound more exciting. Lots of folks think that camping is just what the Scouts do. :hhmm:
Nothing wrong with checking out new equipment and methods, but most of it is available online, in the magazines, and thru the mega-outdoor stores. When I go camping, one of the benefits for me is to get away from the crowds, not join them.

I bought a two day pass. I'm thinking I'll go up Saturday AM. Maybe camp, maybe head home in the evening. Depends on how much fun I'm having and how it done I feel with it after the first day.

I am leaving thursday morning and am working the event. Each year the vendor area is growing. Csc members where your Csc shirt.. Ran into a few of you guys last year

Sarah and I might drive up Friday morning to look around. Won't stay all day though.

Going up either Friday night or really early Sat morning depending on work. We are staying in Flagstaff because we are kid free for the weekend. We might hike West Clear Creek on Sunday morning depending on the Hang over from Saturday night. If anyone wants to do dinner in Flag on Saturday night let me know.

Dinner rec: The rib eye at Beaver Street Brewery is to die for.:D Post dinner nap is highly recommended.

I second what Rob said. Beaver street is great

Anyone camping at the Expo campground?

Camping at the expo is not bad. Lots of space, a plethora of rigs to ogle and close proximity to all the action. Downside is campfires are not allowed and I loves me a good campfire. I'll be there either tomorrow late or early Friday morning. I'll look for the destinctive LCP rig. I'll be in the 100 with the Horizon in tow.

Here are a few of my pics from Saturday. Such a cool event.

Flop demo, this $500 Rover didn't look this good after being tipped about 5 more times.

Got to chat w/ the owner of AEV for a bit, very cool guy and great engineering in these rigs.

Pretty cool to get to stretch out a $100k rig

Something for everybody at the EXPO. Meet some very interesting seasoned world travelers. Pick up on some great ideas for mods. Saw several CSC members in attendance. My 80 lacks the needed crap hanging off it to be worthy as a featured vehicle for an event like this again. Land Rover people hate me more then every after this weekend. I had a great time.
