I have a '89 toyota 4x4. I love it, but I've been having an overheating problem. I'm not an amazing mechanic or anything so it may be something simple. When it overheats steam is coming out of the overflow hose from the radiator. I've checked and replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap and both are working properly.
It seems that the engine heats up to the point where the water turns to steam and comes out the overflow hose and continues until I shut off the truck. If I didn't shut off the truck it would run out of water due to the excessive steam. I'm hoping it's not a head gasket because i've heard that is a difficult process to replace.
Any places I should start?
Thanks.
