I have been thinking of making an overhead console like pic two in post number 3 on this thread.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/262464-holy-crap-just-bought-two-hj47s.html

I think somebody posted up something like this with downward pointing speakers. Unlike the mic cord in the pic, l was thinking the "cubby" areas could be used to KEEP the mic cord from getting in the way. I was thinking hockey puck map/dash lights could be recessed in the bottom. And in fact it lines up well to eye level, so some gauges (oil, water temp etc) could be put up there and keep them off the knees and hanging under the dash. I was also thinking of possibly locking doors rather than open cubbies.

Anybody have some more pics with different configuration options for an overhead console in this location ?

heres a picture of what i have probably not what you are looking for:bang::bang:

yep, not exactly what I am looking for (except that is a pretty nice dome light in pic #1 !!!)

I cannot dig up the original post at the moment that started me thinking, but somebody posted up a overhead front console, that was built for the sole purpose of mounting some downward facing speakers. The next time I was in my rig, I realized that there really is a lot of space available, and it was a nice eye level height for a variety of uses. If I could figure out a way to slide in my laptop from time to time, it would be perfect.

This is what I did.

Here's mine. Don't forget how hard it is to hold your arm still enough to adjust the volume on a stereo over your head when your 40 is trying to throw you out of your seat on the highway....
