Ok, so i just saw fenderbenders thread on hardwiring the V1 dectector to the overhead console wiring.

But that didnt interest me as much as the actual overhead console! So heres the story, you see where the sunglass holder is? My homelink buttons are there on my 2000 LX470 and i have the map lights. Well on fenders, his homelink buttons are in the position like my 05 LS430.

Is it possible i can swap to that overhead with the connectors and such still being compatible? Can someone who has a TIS login help me? I need to check the connectors up there for each...see if they are the same.

Anyways, here is the picture and i will edit the post to put mine in after i run down and take a picture.

whole upper console as in that whole assembly that fender pulled off? Thats what i figured you had to buy...you were qouted 192 from a toyota dealer? If thats the case i could probably get it a little cheaper, either at dealer cost or a bodyshop cost, not full retail....but i donno if shipping to St lou would make up for the discount.

I get a "standard" 10% discount at Lexus, but it still is never less than what I find on the web. If we can find the manufacturer and part number I can get it at wholesale. And we can both save some money. Just let me know

yeah, i can get parts at cost no problem, what i want to know is if it fits or not...getting it is the easy part.

anyone else have any input on this?

Funny you should mention this :) Something I looked into a while back.

The 03+ actually has a different shape, the console extends further "out" (towards the rear of the vehicle) than the 02+, as well as the curvature of the headliner being slightly different. Technically, it's doable, but the console then does not sit flush to the headliner. There is a minimal gap.

Problem, the second. The wiring harnesses for the Homelink is different. On the 03+, the homelink, mic, and something else (can't remember) are all in a pigtail that go to a black box that splits them off. So you would also have to do some custom wiring (which I'm sure you could do).

So you've basically got to ask yourself if that gap would bug you, and if it was worth getting a sunglasses holder/space for more mods.

I chose to leave mine alone.

hmmmm, maybe i will order one in and see how off the curve is...maybe ill just buy a whole new headliner ;) No in all seriousness, any gap would bug me...so thats another thing on my list of 02 to 03 changes...now if only they didnt screw up the interior and make it look like a car i would get one.

did you ever get the part number for this? i'm wanting to do this as well but i can't seem to find the part number. fender's overhead console looks exactly like mine except i don't have the sunglass part. instead i have the lexus link buttons.
