does anyone know of a nice quality outdoor temperature guage that can be mounted inside the cab of an 80 series cruiser? I want to replace the cheap POS I bought at the auto parts store with someone with a quality guage/readout and a quality sensor that is mounted outside of the vehicle.

Thanks,

Noah

Go with gentex auto dimming mirror with compass, outside temp, and home link.

Guppie,
I got the one you ordered. Good quality and had great reviews. I have led dome I can turn on if I need to see temp at night :-)
I used a plastic tube to house the sensor, but be careful about mounting behind the bumper as it most definitely picks up engine heat idling. I need to find another spot...easy install otherwise. It sits on top of steering column.

You missed my thread on this one. That gauge is available for $2.13 from Hong Kong. Have since found a F scale one.

Batteries last about a year. Using my "spare" one in the Engel fridge.

well, I ordered the first one from amazon, reasonably priced and from the measurements given it should fit in the stock cutout locations. Will try to remember to post up results when I get it in.

Feedback and pics of dash location and external placement will be necessary here Sir! I used to have a little external temp guage/compass/altimeter mounted on my center console, but it's been replaced with speakers for my CB and Ham radio.

1"x1 3/4" seems a little large for the rectangular locations above the center console in a '94 (where the rear heater switch is). There are two add'l switch cut outs there. OCD me would rather not 'cut' the dash.

I just bought and installed this one and I very much like it. No back light kinda sucks, but not really. It does fit into the dash but you'll need to ream it out a little with a Dremel tool first. Looks stock upon completion. Accurate reading too. I just hung it out the grill behind the Hella's.

answering my own question here, wonder if the above would fit into the stock 80 plug holes?
