Any suggestions re a car cover to help protect a 2017 LX? It'll be outside for a month this summer while my college student son does military training with the Marines and Navy. The elements won't exactly be harsh in San Diego but I'm looking for advice re a cover that fits well, provides sun protection, has some type of lock or alarm, and any other important features I'm not even aware of. I'm not price-sensitive and am willing to pay up for higher quality. Thanks in advance.

Car covers are a giant pain. I had one for my LX and ended up throwing it away after a wind storm blew it onto the ground/dirt.

I think they're more likely to cause more harm to your paint than leaving it outside for a month. Find a parking structure for a small fee, likely less than buying a nice cover.

I would think dust would get under it and wind would cause some abrasion against paint. I’d put a good wax / sealant on it and get a sunshade for the windshield. Hardly any harm will come from a month in the elements.

You're probably correct. Likely more effort than it's worth. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I think you and Paulunm are probably correct. I was probably being overly protective. A month outside in San Diego isn't going to hurt it. Appreciate all 3 replies.

Ceramic coat is another good option (I started using it after my car cover ended up in the trash!). My LX lives outside about half the time, and since I'm cheap I apply Hydrosilex ceramic spray a few times a year. They advertise it as protecting from UV rays.

I will say it has made a huge difference in how easy it is to clean up bug droppings/splats off of the paint.

A professional ceramic coating will cost a lot, but last a long time.

+1 on the cover doing more harm than good.

Covers are good to use when you're storing a vehicle inside your garage, but they're useless outside.

Maybe look at Weathertech window shades to keep the interior protected and cool. As for the paint I'd get it ceramic coated.
