I'm just asking.
What about aftermarket blanks, because old OEMs are difficult to find? Or you are only providing oem blanks?
I asked you if that was a dare because I am fairly certain that nobody has ever asked me that question here before …
But ….
Thank you for asking it and bringing up this topic .....![]()

the time has Indeed come that your inquiry regarding 80 series aftermarket key blanks is a very relevant one because TOYOTA Axed the 90999-00163 wide metal top out of the normal ordinary way ?
then says a black top 90999-00174 Replaces it ?
NOT Supersedes it ? ?
below are the current ones i have in-hand , NOT all aftermarket keys are created equal to be krystal klear , but the ones i Do show below , have passed my Sniff-Test both Cosmetically Surface Treatment , and the Metallurgy underneath it too ....
.
I can confirm the key on the right will work. I had one cut at my local Toyota dealer.Okay, let me educate you. According to my 92 owners manual, these are the three keys our trucks came with. Two master keys and a valet key. One of the master keys had a rubber like head, and the other one was full metal. The spare key was like the metal master key but a different design.

Here is why that other ssimilar Toyota key from the 90s I found on Ebay wont work.

So @MrMikeyG, that key that you linked will indeed work with the land cruiser, but it's not a key that the land cruiser originally came with, I think the 4Runner had that key.

Does the JDM have reverse cut style (or whatever it’s called) normal cut key?Anyone have ideas on getting a new cylinder lock set for my 1991 HDJ81 (JDM)? Driver's side is busted due to an attempted break in a few years ago, and left side it going bad as well. Ignition is fine. I haven't been able to find an OEM set in stock on places like Amayama....

my understanding is those are no longer available, but they are the same (maybe similar?) to the LX450 keys, which have had customers successfully do a complete swap over to our FZJ set up. you do need to source and send a rear hatch lock mechanism so I can key match though.View attachment 3724727
Yessir, based on what you're describing. Interestingly, I don't think I've ever seen a US spec 80 key haha.

Some info on the Lexus keys here:my understanding is those are no longer available, but they are the same (maybe similar?) to the LX450 keys, which have had customers successfully do a complete swap over to our FZJ set up. you do need to source and send a rear hatch lock mechanism so I can key match though.
One thing to be aware of - All Aussie spec 80 series used these keys, even "pov pack" models. If you could source a set of barrels from down under (IE, my side of the pond) with a matching key, you could keep it stock here.View attachment 3724727

"Pov pack" is short for "Poverty Pack", which basically means "Base model", IE, the "this is all I could afford because I'm poor" model. What’s a “ POV PACK “ models ?
Is that like MAX’s IMP Yellow and Black Interceptors ?
